I had to do some digging to figure out what happens in the end (in the second novel) because can’t wait 15 years for donghua to finish (we estimated it’d end in 2039-2040 😳). The story actually is quite good and things get explained (even the green vial).

There are 33 episodes total, so only 9 episodes left. Yestersay someone accidentally changed episode count on MDL from 33 to 40, but it’s been confirmed there are only 33.

It gets better starting with ep. 4 or so (as the character leaves the old man and goes to attempt to join a sect). But I certainly understand your point, it’s not for everyone :)

Someone mentioned first novel had over 2 million words, but I don’t know how true it is (second — over 1 million). And people in comments said feedback from readers (*cough* demands?) got the author to change FL. Originally it was not Nangong Wan but a different character Han Li will meet in season 2.

Ah, thanks for the info. You know more about budgets and tiers, but it looked more like mid-tier to my untrained eye. They definitely used the budget wisely :) But, then again, I am the person who rated a Filipino drama 10.0 😁🤣

Well… the source novels are known to be super long, so you are not wrong 😁 The first novel is ~2400 chapters and second is ~1400 chapters. It’s probably better to think of this as a long series of books :) First novel has 11 books/volumes and season 1 covers books 1-3. Next two seasons would be books 4-7 (?), I believe.

It’s underrated (should be closer to 9 by MDL standards). FL character (played by Wang Chu Ran) is great and their chemistry together is 🥰🥰🥰. It’s hard to say more because there are some spoilers/secrets that get revealed throughout, but I’d recommend not reading MDL synopsis. It’s not fully accurate — just watch first episode and it explains everything (briefly, ML is local lord who uses FL as bait to catch rebel leader). FYI, the drama is available on YouTube for free but I very slightly prefer Viki subtitles (watched fully both versions).

I believe he was Foundation High and then dropped back to Qi. And to progress to Core he has to do Qi->Foundation->Qi two more times. They mentioned it once or twice in the show, but it was very brief.
