Romance is secondary to survival and cultivation. That’s why it was not particularly fair to designate anyone as Female Lead. It makes sense in the grand scheme of the full two novels but not so much at this point.

In the live action drama they haven’t shown Han Li at Nascent Stage yet. If you remember beginning of Episode 1, he was “Core Formation Mid-Stage” and that was 200 years after he started his cultivation journey. In the donghua they just showed him reaching Nascent Stage, so it will probably happen in Season 3 of live action (I can give episode numbers for donghua but that may spoil things). In the grand scope of both novels, he will go beyond Nascent Stage, of course 😁

Rumor is for a trilogy (seasons 2 & 3).

Do you know if Bilibili provided any investment for Season 1? They air donghua so having popular live action helps them.

I thought they removed “romance” tag after we begged MDL to fix it? This is not a romance drama at all :)

This drama is pretty much about Main Character’s cultivation (the novel’s name is “A Mortal’s Journey to Immortality”) and everyone else is a secondary character. Any romantic events in this season are very minor. More things will happen in later seasons, but even there romance is secondary to main character’s development.

I’m about 2/3 of the way through POB :) The costume budget in POB is insanely high 😁

FL’s mom in TFF is the worst mom I’ve ever seen in an Asian drama 😳🥺😭

On the K-drama side, Love Scout is also a great 2025 release. The pair is older than in TFF but their relationship becomes so great. Everyone in Viki comments was in love with ML who is the greenest of green flags and has a super adorable daughter.

The Immortal Ascension was also very good, but it’s not a straightforward xianxia. TIA is 95% focused on main character’s cultivation and there is almost no romance. It stayed very true to the novels and donghua.

I think he tried to do it in Ep. 22 but she declined and pulled away. But preview for Ep. 23 shows him trying to restore her memories.

In the US, YOUKU drops new episodes at midnight EST / 11 pm CST / 9 pm PST. The latest episode available right now is 21 for VIP and 22 for SVIP (YOUKU calls it “TVOD” ). SVIP/TVOD needs to be purchased separately for each drama and is $2-3 usually (provides early access to 1 episode). And then the last few episodes will get Express Package which is another $3 or so.

Same author but not part of a shared universe, to the best of my knowledge.

Supposedly, this arc will end soon. The show is moving at a pretty good pace :)

To be more precise, Frozen Fish is the body FL traveled into when she came from the modern world into this fantasy world. Also, while everyone in the drama keeps talking about Frozen Fish being able to kill ML, in actuality that cold nature of FL’s body helps ML deal with the Spirit fire inside of him. They are literally fire 🔥 & ice 🧊 couple.

Supposedly this arc should be over very soon.
