I was okay with the cast, but feel like they should’ve just made one 40-episode long season by skipping most events of Season 2 until Episode 16. And writers weren’t very creative in Season 2 — they used very tired tropes (like misunderstanding about the pin). Actors did their best and tried to make it better.

Majority people find S1 slightly better than S2. The second season is not bad, but it does feel like screenwriters are purposefully dragging things along and making up reasons for the leads to not be together. That disappointed fans who were expecting things to be better between the leads.

It’s a great watch if you aren’t looking for any romance :)

This is based on a very, very long novel (well, two very long novels) and I believe season 1 of drama covers “books” 1-3 (out of 11) in the first novel. There was no way, unfortunately, they could do the whole book. Even the ongoing animated version (donghua) has only covered about 20-25% of both novels so far (there are about 160 episodes, each 15 minutes long or so).

Maybe if this gets picked up, they can shoot multiple seasons at the same time to produce some savings. Although season 2 would be set in a new location… 🤔

It’s only 14 hour-long episodes + 30-minute special and its definitely worth the effort to check it out if you are looking for a smart adult show (lead characters are probably 30 or so). In addition to work things (relatable to a Western person), it also touches in a pretty realistic way on universal things when it comes to FL + her former crush and 2FL + her boyfriend. Really great OST too.

She was so good in “You Are My Lover, Friend”. Very surprised she has not had a proper main lead role yet.

They made a drama about you! It’s called “Fake It Till You Make It”. English title isn’t great but the drama is awesome — ML is an investment banker and FL is a corporate lawyer (outside counsel). Pretty realistic and relatively short (by C-drama standards).

It was indeed very sweet and sensual. And I’m of the opinion they definitely did it — the new word for having adult time together is “merge” 🤣

Writer(s) of Ep. 18 watched “Go Go Squid” too many times and decided to add a hacking episode even though their lab is mostly about autonomous driving.

Episode 12 is on YOUKU as “TVOD” (SVIP).
