OMG - who wears a bracelet on a top secret undercover mission>!?!? Faints.
An even bigger question is why she even went on the mission instead of a somone trained in martial arts. This FL is not a warrior unlike some other dramas.

Title Rose and Gun
The writers of this drama were given an impossible task to promote Chinese Navy while, at the same time, not actually showing any armed conflict or dangerous situations. Having to watch multiple training montages (and even competitions) is not very interesting. Even the flood rescue operation raises questions — why is an elite special forces unit participating in that as opposed to being on standby to defend against terrorists or other bad guys? 🤔🤨🧐

So recently there's been this trend with both K and C dramas where the ML will do the most HORRENDOUS thing to…
Thank you so much!

Separate question — do you know if there’s an English translation of the novel anywhere or did you read original Chinese version?

The novel sounds more complex (as expected). There’s no way they could have fit that into a 40-episode drama (would need multiple seasons like here). I understand your disappointment as the reader of the novel, but for people who didn’t read the source material (like me), even that drama is better than 99% of all other historical C/K-dramas 🥰

While I haven’t read the novel, I’ve watched “Are You the One” multiple times. ML in the drama didn’t “grovel”. He stayed as a strong character throughout but had to work to convince FL he loved the real her, not “homemaker” her without her memories. I think that’s a pretty natural thing for FL to worry about, especially because of spoiler-y reasons I won’t go into here :)

When I get frustrated by frustrating dramas, I tend to re-watch “Are You the One”. Yes, it’s 40 episodes…
Hlad you are enjoying it. The locations and the story will expand :) FL is not going to be focused on porcelain business for 40 episodes. P.S. The Nanny is also very nice. “What a sin!” 🤣

Can we take a detour from discussing the non-relationship between the leads (🥺) and discuss the audacity of the envoy. He needs a lesson from the Evil Princess 👸🏻 😈

So, leads aren’t together even in Ep. 11? 😮‍💨
Someone needs to lock up the leads in that secret dungeon full of not-for-kids toys and books 😉

This. Like the story lines work and actually work a little better if they are happy in a relationship. Can you…
Yes, it’d actually be way more serious if they were openly in love and had to try to avoid ML being married off to someone. There was another drama where ML had to break his leg to avoid an arranged marriage and to scheme to get his beloved a title of a princess so she could become his official wife (FL didn’t want to be a concubine).

Yes, without middle third it’d been a very solid drama. The worst part is that the excuse for the breakup was so lame. I’m not sure how C/K-drama actors select projects… maybe they only get to read script for the first 5 episodes, lol

Yes, Only for Love with Bai Lu and Dylan Wang (Wang He Di). I really liked the first third and last third of it, but the middle third (or even longer) was taken up by yet another trope-y misunderstanding scenario 🥺

This reminds me — there was a modern drama with Bai Lu where the wedding between the leads was actually a freaking special episode/epilogue which was not even available on Viki. It was an exclusive to some platform. 😟

Also be prepared for when they finally make the marriage real - for them to be separated and then in true c-drama…
When I get frustrated by frustrating dramas, I tend to re-watch “Are You the One”. Yes, it’s 40 episodes but everything makes sense and characters behave rationally (cannot say anything more to avoid spoilers).

Main subjects of this drama are FL’s business ventures (and women’s empowerment) and ML’s fight against corruption. It’s a mystery why the leads couldn’t be together in a happy relationship while they both cooperate to achieve their goals.

May I ask which show you're referring to?
“Rose and Gun”. But overall, that show so far isn’t as exiting as, say, “Fireworks of My Heart”. Too much time is dedicated to showing unexciting training & exercises (so 1.5x speed comes in handy).

So funny to see another ongoing (modern) drama have a wedding proposal in Episode 7 and wedding in Episode 10, while we are still waiting for a love confession here after so long 😞

Upcong four episodes (9-12) look like there are going to be more eventful based on teasers.
