Now that episode 6 is on Viki, I can join the chorus of people in the comments who are against the latest misunderstanding. It will surely get resolved but we are all ready for the leads to get together for real.

It’s best to forget all the details about things 2ML had done. He’s a reddest of red flags 🚩 . Evil Princess is more sympathetic than him — at least, she’s straightforward in her desire to be with him. But 2ML hates his wife and longs for the princess… until FL tries to divorce him which leads to very unpleasant things. So now 2ML forgot all about his first love (Princess) and became obsessed with getting back FL even though she clearly doesn’t want to be with him.

LC is absolutely a terrible person if you remember how he behaved in the very beginning when they were married. He was very abusive toward FL — not only verbally but physically too.

Episode 5 subs are now better (not awful) but still not great. Better wait for Viki.

Do we all want for Liu Chang to meet the same fate as the first husband of the Evil Princess? 😉

Myabe that’s why writers keep making our heroes take turns being in jail so they wouldn’t have any time to spend together, lol

At this point there’s not even a good reason for ML to keep his feelings hidden (other than a fear of being rejected). In that way, “Are You the One” dealt with it a bit better (well, the wait wasn’t 38+ episodes either).

You are welcome! I also try to watch on Viki. The only exception so far is “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”. Netflix subs are better — maybe less precise but make dialog feel snappier (hard to explain).

It’s a great drama that is a bit lighter in tone compared to this one (esp. in early episodes before things get more serious). But I really love it because everyone behaves rationally and as you’d expect (meaning, there are no tired/overused/dumb drama tropes). The FL-related part of MDL synopsis is not entirely accurate but everything will be explained in first 10-15 minutes and then the story will expand from there and grow in scope. FL character is great, chemistry between leads is 🥰. Also — available for free on YouTube with official subs (Viki subs are slightly better and songs are translated but I’ve watched both versions and it’s fine).

BTW, have you watched Are You the One? It’s only 40 episodes long

To be clear, I was just talking about the 24-episode length not the misunderstanding part. I’m watching on Viki so only have episodes 1-4.

To be fair, we can’t consider this as a standalone show. It’s really a 56-episode show which only got split into two parts due to new Chinese regulations.

ML definitely gets a better end of the deal even in prison. FL is the one who is getting caned, beaten up and abused 🥺

C-dramas spoiled people with their rapid release schedule, lol. We should be thankful typical K-dramas get two episodes a week. That is still much better than countries with one episode per week.

They made it seem like it was Hwa Seon (same shoes, same scratch marks) but it would be too obvious. But I’d really prefer 2FL to stay good. She’s nice and deserves a happy ending too.
