Let’s be honest, what’s happening now is very minor compared to what many dramas do. I don’t like tropes & cliches either, but this isn’t nearly as bad as, for example, most of In the Name of Blossom (season 2 of Flourished Peony).

But the modern dialog will, hopefully, help her realize that the person who loved ML and was his cultivation partner was not the original owner of her body, but it was herself. Because ML is starting to use modern language (like boyfriend) in ep. 22.

It’s a good thing he didn’t say that to the current version of the FL 🫣

Ah, well, honestly Cnetz always find something to complain about (similar to anyone on social media anywhere). But nice to hear the leads may have placated them.

Official YOUKU’s account has final schedule for Week 3 and it only shows 33 episodes. Pretty much all dramas request 40 episodes nowadays even if they don’t plan to shoot that many. The benefit of having 33 episodes here is that nothing feels dragged out. The story is moving pretty quickly and we don’t have filler episodes where writers come up with random reasons for something bad to happen.

Were people pissed off? I didn’t see anything like that in the comments here. We were all just wishing for reconciliation. But it wouldn’t it be fair to claim that the writers dragged out the separation — they found each other relatively quickly and now re-establishing their bond.

It’s surprisingly good so far (through 22 of 33 episodes). There are really no love rivals to speak of — pretty much just people who want ML and/or FL dead or under their control. But it’s also not super angsty either. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies, but it’s not a constant tear fest unlike many dramas.

Romance is secondary to survival and cultivation. That’s why it was not particularly fair to designate anyone as Female Lead. It makes sense in the grand scheme of the full two novels but not so much at this point.

In the live action drama they haven’t shown Han Li at Nascent Stage yet. If you remember beginning of Episode 1, he was “Core Formation Mid-Stage” and that was 200 years after he started his cultivation journey. In the donghua they just showed him reaching Nascent Stage, so it will probably happen in Season 3 of live action (I can give episode numbers for donghua but that may spoil things). In the grand scope of both novels, he will go beyond Nascent Stage, of course 😁
