Both mom’s get together and share tips for sure. But TFF mom is worse, IMHO, because daughter’s life and wellbeing…
Let’s agree that TFF mom, this mom, and mom from “Fireworks of My Heart” are a truly awful trio 😢😳😡
What I hate about TFF mom is she’s very selfish and doesn’t care about her daughter. That’s very unusual because other overbearing parents who at least try to justify their behavior by saying it’s for the benefit of children. And, of course, TFF mom ignores FL’s claims about creepy uncle who does bad things to girls and even ☠️ one. That’s very heartbreaking to witness.

She’s a childhood rival & friend of the FL (so they like each other but also compete with each other). But…
The relationship between the six kids and their families is very sweet. Pretty much only ML’s mom is not like the rest (well, and one guy’s dad who beat him & mom).

It’s more than a year (they are in 2nd year, so 2nd+3rd years of high school). Then there’s the excitement…
Totally understandable point of view. But going separate ways isn’t a great answer either when a parent is that controlling. “Fireworks of My Heart” shows that super controlling parents won’t stop invading their children’s life (I’m avoiding specifics for people who haven’t watched Fireworks).

For sure its because of licensing/copyright concern and revenue. Our Generation is licensed only for broadcast…
Thanks for additional info. They don’t want YOUKU (international) to make extra $ from SVIP subs 😊 Havjng similar release schedule across platforms is a nice change of pace. Often Netflix is behind original platform and Viki (and Viki is behind original platform too).

I think, from the perspective of the writer of the original novel, the kids aren’t doing anything bad. They aren’t even trying to date, just to hang out in their group of friends (2 girls + 4 boys). Having a group of friends during school years is helpful to not only avoid loneliness but also to cope with extreme stress produced by school (especially in the 3rd year when they will be cramming for exams). FL is not about to flunk out of school because of this, ML is not doing worse on his end, so there’s really nothing harmful. None of the six kids are going on dates and skipping classes or something like that.

They are 17 years old. I don't understand why is it so important to be friends now since they weren't in touch…
It’s more than a year (they are in 2nd year, so 2nd+3rd years of high school). Then there’s the excitement of meeting each other after 7 years apart. Additionally, there’s no guarantee they will go to the same university or in the same city. ML is inevitably going to go to one of the very top universities, so getting into it for FL would be very hard if not impossible. And thats even setting aside the Mom Factor — for all we know, ML’s mom will accompany him to university and will watch over him.

Netflix has it too
Thanks! Was wondering about YOUKU because usually they release episodes slightly ahead of Viki/Netflix. For now, looks like Viki and Netflix in the US are the same — have 13 episodes.

In the U.S., is this only available on Viki? Strange that YOUKU hasn’t released it on their own platform.

This should be rated above 8 based on MDL standards. The leads are very good and the story avoids most cliches & tropes that plague dramas (except in parts when this series actively makes fun of them). Very recommended :)

Hopefully you are aware that this is the fourth drama in the University Series (six novels total) and most people…
Fair point. Maybe best to wait until it’s over to see how things develop. Acting is probably better than early parts of Rain. FL actress is doing very well with her role (but her character is not very complex for now). ML is a good actor but his character is kind of a cliche. The MV from that show may be even better (none of the scenes are from the show) — it stars the two leads playing their actual age and not high schoolers, lol. — https://youtu.be/FPz9GSC5QlM

Nice! Then you can start “Seducing Drake Palma” — it’s another ongoing series from the same company. Kind of campy and funny, similar to teenage movies of 2000s. And that one, fortunately, is not SIX interconnected books. Only two books, lol

Glad you liked it! “Safe Skies, Archer” (#2) may be even better (very 18+, lol). I’m still finishing #3.

I hope they unite the universe of this drama with universe of The Princess Royal ☺️ Maybe have TPR being written by the character who writes fiction.

One thing I find quite weird is Qin Yeyun. She's actually too weird. I mean what type of friend is like that?…
She’s a childhood rival & friend of the FL (so they like each other but also compete with each other). But 2FL leads a hard(er) life because of her dad’s injury so she’s a bit more mature and not as carefree as the main group.

Outside of mom’s stuff, Best Choice may be a tiny bit better than As Beautiful As You (don’t forget to watch the special/bonus) but I rated them the same. The Best Thing was slightly better and super nice (had no expectations).

FL’s mom in Best Choice Ever was at least nice. But, I agree, that she was way, was overboard in trying to marry off FL to that rich guy. I ended up rating Best Choice Ever and As Beautiful As You the same (Beautiful has a dose of tropes as well). The Best Thing was surprisingly better than both of them even though I wasn’t familiar with FL actress before that.

His mom seems like a middle manager of that company (so maybe a level above his dad), but she’s acting like a typical drama ultra-rich person. And expecting son to make it to the nations Olympiad team is kind of crazy level of pressure. That’s top 5-10 people in a country in their age group. 😳🥺

Yes, we all enjoyed that. That mom might have been the worst C-drama mother (even “Fireworks” mom wasn’t selfish and supposedly did everything for benefit of her daughter).
