I can’t speak for everyone but — even if we knew all the things happening in his life — leaving FL like that without any explanation or communication is not a good move. This trope is so, so overused in dramas by this point and it almost never works. Viewers are probably very tired of such situations and only get annoyed with them.

That is what I said! These were recommended by the same users. And When Life Gives You Tangerines???
Why are some TFF fans down rating OG? I loved TFF and don’t really see a lot of similarities. If anything, OG is more like WIFTY.

Where they trying yo shorten the episodes to make it only 24 So they made the ML act like a guest. 😂😂😂
This was always meant to be a 24 episode drama per all reports. Some scenes were cut but that always happens with any drama. Even 40-episode dramas have deleted scenes.

I am with you on Ye Yun and Yu Qiao. I had to laugh when she told Ying Tao to get together with Yu Quio and not…
In the novel they don’t end up together? They showed them together quite a bit in the drama so far, so I thought for sure they’d be the second pair. They are going to college in different cities but maybe after that, at least.

Okay catching up to this just got to ep12 and i have somethings to say. First of let me say I was waiting for…
“When I Fly Towards You” was 24 short episodes (30-35 minutes each compared to 45 minutes here) and managed to tell the full story for 5 main characters. So I appreciate them at least not dragging this out too long — if this had 40 episodes, writers would have to come up with something ridiculous to fill in the time. But it does have more of a friendship vibe compared to romance. And, hey, at least the leads aren’t trying to kill each other like in TRP! 🤣

I wish they would relabel this not as romcom but just coming of age slice of life for one individual and one individual…

Hey guys, I’m feeling so discouraged to continue watching this drama. I’m only on episode eight, but with…
It’s actually a really, really good drama that does some things excellently. The friendship between characters is shown very well. The core families are also remarkably nice and supportive of each other. But it’s definitely not a romance-first drama (at least so far), more like friendships and slice-of-life.

The app doesn’t have “romcom” tag. But it has “1990s” which is clearly wrong because it’s set in 2000s. That’s why I personally ignore categories and tags 😒

What is going on with the male lead? Why was he weird today when speaking with the female lead? And he keeps leaving?…
Without going into spoiler territory, what the show showed so far is that his family has some sort of a crisis. His mom left to work overseas to make more money. His dad is also gone. We were shown a scene where other dads talked about ML’s mom asking to sell her stock too. So something money-related. They also showed on TV a segment about huge stock market crash in 2008 where a lot of money was lost.

Queetion to novel readers: how does the book justify what happened at the end of Episode 15? Struggling to understand why there was no explanation from one character to another. Did the book handle it differently but for drama screenwriters went with a typical tired trope?

Through 16 episodes, it almost feels like true leads of this drama are Young Cherry and Adult Cherry 🤣.

I had no expectations about The Best Thing but I thought it was very good (maybe a bit of needless drama with FL’s mom’s health at the end). This show has been good until end of Ep. 15 (😡). We’ll see what happens next.

That trope should be deleted from all future dramas because it’s so annoying. In the context of this drama, it’s even worse because they already had one unexplained separation (as kids) and now leaving without any explanation just seems very cruel and inappropriate. I feel very bad for FL. During the first a sense lack of communication can be blamed on his mom. Now — it’s all his fault.

Both mom’s get together and share tips for sure. But TFF mom is worse, IMHO, because daughter’s life and wellbeing…
Bad Mom doesn’t want ML to improve his social standing or achieve anything because that would bring him closer in status to FL. FL’s family is very rich while ML is from a regular family. In school ML was a bit of a cool not-so-good guy but FL inspired him to be better and to improve himself (this is mostly told in deleted scenes/book apparently). So, bad mom used family influence multiple times to keep ML down. Neither the viewer nor FL knows that mom did anything and details are discovered over the course of the drama (including some things I didn’t mention). And that’s why ML works as a firefighter/emergency rescue person now instead of something more prestigious.

Fireworks mom is very, very rich and super controlling. She not only forces breakup after high school (and sends FL overseas), she actively sabotages ML after that (that’s not a spoiler — most of it is told in Ep. 1). Otherwise, it’s a great show. However, when I rewatched it, I skipped most scenes with mom. Still, Wang Chu Ran (FL actress) does a great job portraying someone trying to overcome influence of parents like that. And fire & rescue scenes are very, very well done.
