If you haven’t watched it yet (not your completed list), check out Are You the One. It’s a bit lighter in tone and also has way, way better writing and plot (no tropes, characters behave logically, heroes do smart things). It starts with a local conflict (search for bandit leader) but expands to cover war operations, politics and empire-wide events. All of that in just 40 episodes ;)

They are very fun together but more like brother & sister (despite her best attempts).

Just think of a sect as a large company. It’s hard for top-level executives to control what’s going on with regular workers. And just like any workplace, there are bad people, scheming people, and lazy people. Well, hopefully most companies have a lower mortality rate 🤣
