It’s usually best to read some reviews & comments instead of taking Viki or MDL ratings seriously. I think everyone can find some examples of dramas they didn’t like but which were highly rated on Viki/MDL (and vice versa — lower rated dramas which were excellent).

I didn’t read the original novel (just a bit of English translation) but the making-of documentary (37 minute one) mentioned they tried to stay true to the book but tweaked some things to make it more modern / suitable for current audiences.

Book 2 would be a new season/new show, most likely but they did not officially mention anything in the long Making Of special or in Set Visit special.
They do 3-4 chapters per episode (Ep. 3 ends at beginning of Chapter 13). I believe Book 1 is 57 chapters + 2 Epilogues so the full 16 episodes would give us 3.7 chapters per episode.

Looks like the adjusted the schedule and now it is going to be released on Thursdays. Episode 3 was on June 26, Episode 4 will be on July 3,.. and final Episode 16 will be on September 25.

So, should I watch it if I’m in search of a mature, deep romance story?
This is a “young love” type of drama set in high school and it is pretty light & hilarious (for now). If you want a Filipino drama that is more mature, you can start watching University Series dramas, especially “Safe Skies, Archer” (it’s more light & sexy in the beginning but becomes more serious & deep later on).

Your best bet may be to read/skim the original novel. English text is available at the link below. FYI, creators said they stayed true to the novel but had to tone down some things to make them more appropriate for modern society.
