Someone had mentioned that they don’t end up together in the novel. But they’ve changed some things from the novel for the drama so I guess we will see.

I like Janice Wu but “Skate Into Love” was a bit too overly cliched idol drama (I gave it 8/10). The best skating drama is Beyond (with Teresa Li) but it’s more realistic in nature (at the end of each episode there are clips of interviews with current & former skaters and coaches). It shows how insanely hard it is to get to the top and the bad things that can happen along the way (mental issues and even doping).

“When I Fly Towards You” is very light (same author as The First Frost and Hidden Love). “The Best Thing” and “You Are My Lover Friend” are mostly light (esp. the latter).

OMG, can we please have a full-length anime based on the cartoon at the end of episode 15? 🤣

I am afraid to start watching Si Jin because I love the pairing of the ML & FL in Are You The One ☺️

I was going to recommend You Are My Lover Friend but you finished that one (no family drama there). I see you are watching Are You the One — definitely recommend finishing that. It’s one of very rare dramas where heroes do logical things and behave rationally. It gets progressively better and better as it goes along and the scope expands. And the FL is just plain awesome 👏

FOMH would have been 10/10 if not for the FL’s stepmother. But you can just skip/fast-forward through those parts. Everything else is great! Sizzling chemistry!

ML & FL are both very competent, so they can do well in any company. But previews make it seem like ML loses his position (assigned elsewhere? fired?) and FL may or may not be losing her job too. Drama previews are always super misleading though so who knows. Thabksgulky, only 12 episodes here so things will move quickly :)

There’s no happy ending/redemption for the grandma 🚚

I can’t stand Grandma here, so maybe it’s my coping mechanism to think they are trying to make her overly evil, lol… After all, how ridiculous is it to blame the kid for what happened??? Evil Grandma is one of those rare things that everyone has the same opinion about here, lol

People who read the novel said WZ’s mom is not super opposed to him, so we may be spared too much family drama (*cough* Fireworks of My Heart *cough*).

I think they are making Grandma so evil as a meta-commentary on drama tropes. But… way, way worse blood relative is in The First Frost (just ended drama). Here Evil Granda is stereotypically bad. In The First Frost the situation is heartbreakingly awful and criminally bad.
