Both dramas are good. If this drama doesn’t drag on the forthcoming storyline about his guilt / separation, it will be nice though. I appreciated that Shine on Me had a steady progression without trope-y breakups, etc.

It’s really, really good (same writer as You Are My Glory, Love O2O, Boss & Me, etc.).
And — for sure! — no one had a 2ML syndrome in that drama, 😆(maybe he’s not as good-looking as 2ML here so people can’t overlook his flaws).

You will definitely like Shine on Me (I see it on your list). It’s less trope-y and both leads are actually rich so no power imbalance

Sigh… we all kind of knew where it was going with FL’s dad injury 😞 I hope writers can do a good job of handling this without resorting to typical tropes.

No worries, everyone has their personal preferences 😊 … Overall, I find that generally in C-dramas female leads do more heavy lifting when it comes to their roles/acting (it’s a very broad general statement so there are obviously exceptions).

That’s not always true. The second couple in “Yiu Are My Lover, Friend” was married & remained married. For now, the husband is okay, but let’s see what happens later.

In the novel he is a cheater, apparently. I didn’t read it but others mentioned it. But a lot of changes were made to the drama to make it better (I think some people in the comments couldn’t even finish the novel because it was kind of boring/not great). For example, ML was an actor in the novel and FL wasn’t as strong of a character (I might be confusing dramas but I think someone mentioned a lot of the novel she was just simping/pining over ML).

FL is not confessing her feelings (yet, lol). This was just a gesture of appreciation to ML for everything he’s done for her, including listing her name on the design project :)

SML is a bad guy clearly (they aren’t even hiding it). Bestie’s husband so far isn’t like in the novel (many things got changed, not just him) so the jury is still out.

I think it got translated in subtitles as “Congratulations, Mr. Yu” (not anything super meaningful).
