1000 YEARS, 3 LIFETIMES, 2 PEOPLE AND A LOVE THAT TRANSCENDS ALL BOUNDARIES ............
TTEOTM is a breathtaking xianxia drama with an epic, tragic love story and a soul- stirring narrative. It includes genres such as high fantasy, action, romance, time-travel and enemies to lovers. It really is one of its kind as it is different from other typical xianxia dramas that have one dimensional characters and typical storylines.
Here, the story and the characters are nuanced and layered which creates an absolutely immersive world that feels real. The script writing is visceral, nuanced and compelling bringing out the kaleidosope of emotions and moral conflicts of each character perfectly. Each and every character and their actions resonate with the viewers as it reflects the choices, difficulties and moral dilemmas we might face in our own lives. The story is beautifully woven through a span of 1000 years and 3 lifetimes, seamlessly connecting all the characters through time and experience. Yet it does not have a single boring or unnecessary scene. It deals with philosophical concepts such as the importance of karma , how our fate is in our own hands and how you are your own enemy. It also reflects how cruel our world truly is, where people judge each other at first glance leaving no room for reconsideration or improvement , where even being truly innocent can be dangerous. This show explores the grey area between good and bad through the circumstances and choices of the characters, leaving it upto the viewer's to decide what is right and what is wrong. It makes us realizes that good and bad, right and wrong are not absolute but rather subjective and here we find that at times it can be quite hard to differentiate between the two. Through the lives of the characters we get to see the trials and tribulations of life: sacrifice, duty vs desire, isolation and endurance, and the importance of complex human emotions such as love, hate, desperation and grief. It is truly a rollercoaster of emotions, delving deep into the minds, choices, decisions , life and fate of the characters.
What truly sets this drama apart from other xianxia dramas is its richly layered characters and it's remarkable intellectual depth. It gives us a fresh and unique perspective which is different from the typical portrayal of demons and anti-heroes through a complex and emotionally profound character like TJ. The female lead, LS actually has well rounded personality and her own set of goals and beliefs unlike other cringey and one dimensional female leads. She is strong and independent in her own way and doesn't need the ML to save her every time. She has a mission she is determined to fulfill, and she refuses to abandon it only for love, even when she is forced to choose between the world and the person she loves. She understands that choosing love would bring suffering to countless others, instead, she is willing to sacrifice both herself and her happiness if it means saving the world, including her family and loved ones. The drama is considered to be a little bit on the darker side because it deals with uncomfortable truths, harsh realities of life, raw emotions and a somewhat toxic love-hate relationship between the leads.
The lead actors LYX and BL as well as the others did a superb job in bringing the characters to life. The secondary couples were well developed and played an important role in the storyline, adding just the right amount of extra tension and thrill to the drama. I think LYX and BL were perfect for the roles they played and their on- screen chemistry was to die for. They flawlessly portrayed the emotions and life of all the three different characters they played, from three different lifetimes, where each and every character had a distinct personality. LYX 's top-notch acting and micro expressions brought a complex character like TJ to life and added an unique touch to the personality and arc of an anti-hero. Through LYX's acting we could see the transformation in TJ from a cold, emotionless anti-hero to a person who had felt the warmth of human emotions and was starting to develop his own feelings.
The CGI was magnificent and truly splendid as it perfectly captured the epic and magical world of the immortals. It felt so real that at times i was completely immersed in that world. The set designs were extremely intricate and mostly handmade which made the world feel more grounded and realistic. The OST and intros were too good to miss, i had to rewatch them before every episode !
The costume designing was done really minutely and immaculately with a lot of research put into it which was heavily influenced by the dunhuang and tianhuan style. Every characters' costumes had distinct details and style which reflected the unique traits and personalities of the character. Every intricate detail was carefully crafted to reflect the character’s personality, status and significance within the storyline.
The whole story is fast-paced, compact, introspective and a whirlwind of emotions, as for the ending it was heart wrenching but to some extent satisfactory. I believe that TJ deserves a happy ending as he did nothing wrong, throughout his life of 500 years he only wanted to be on the right path and he never wanted to become the devil god. He truly had a heart of gold. He loved LS till his last breath but was ready to make her resent him and get killed, by the one he loved the most, just to save the world! He had to give up his life and love for the sins (karma) of the devil god, but if karma truly exists then he should get a happy ending as he did nothing wrong but loved her till the end and saved the world by sacrificing his own happiness and life.
I really love this drama with all my heart and am extremely touched by it so i would like to request to the producers, actors and directors to please, please make a season 2 of TTEOTM. I really want to see the second part of the story (according to novel) where TJ and LS live a good life together as a reward for all their hardships and sacrifices.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE MAKE A SEASON 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
