This is great groundwork for the beginning of a story. The main characters introduction was enough to make you curious as to what their past stories were and how their futures will unfold. They are visually stunning as well, especially BJT with his height, physique, eye mole, dreamy deep soothing voice and just about everything else.
This drama is a work of art married with poetry. It is very well woven from start to finish. They take you by hand and lead you from point A-B up until Z for a spectacular conclusion. There is no room for confusion or boredom even for a single moment. One finds themselves totally immersed and completely wrapped in a torrent of emotions with every character. They don’t just brush through a character but they give you their proper backstory and the reason they are the way they are and how the choices they make lead you to the next arc of the story, making all of them very important and memorable. We’ll, except for the eternally annoying Eternals. Most useless bunch of them all. But then in life, there are always people like that! The visuals were a treat, especially the costume designs, makeup( thank goodness it wasn’t too heavy), accessories, the color themes were all spectacular. Especially, Ao’s, Dai Lu Wa’s and Bai Lu’s.That designer is a goddess in her own realm for making such magical and breathtaking displays. The directors, did an amazing job in making sure the flow of the story is continuously in a fluid motion and not all over the place. All the actors completely understood their mission and delivered beautifully and convincingly. ( On a side note, Ao Ruipeng is a beautifully gorgeous handsome specimen to behold. One forgets sometimes to follow the story as his visuals keep you mesmerized). All in all, an amazing stand alone drama, related to ALP but honestly, I like this one better mainly due to the healthy relationship dynamics between the leads and a whole lot of other things. Not relationship dynamics that test your patience and keeps you annoyed at the characters for most of the time, as it’s common in c dramas. So definitely recommended and it will be on my cozy rewatch list.
