I'll say it again - it's one thing to make her humble and naive. It's another thing to make her a simple country…
I agree! I’m getting annoyed that her character comes across as uncouth and ignorant, just like her master called her a few episodes back. Because of that ignorance, she and her little pig gang are about to trade the prisoner’s brother for food in the next episode… during a time of war. But I guess that’s the character’s flaw. I’m still enjoying the drama, but I couldn’t help noticing this flaw from the very beginning.
Okay, so I was at the nail salon getting my nails done, watching this drama… fighting back tears at the scene of little Changning and Boer seeing each other for the first time in 2 months.
Little Changning is an incredible actress. I love when child actors leave a lasting impression on me. To this day I still adore little A’li from Eternal Love and Han Pu from Who Rules the World, those two kids completely owned their roles.
I’ve seen a few dramas since then with Han Pu, and I just know he’s going to grow into an excellent actor.
But with that being said… I’m going to have to drop this drama for now. I’ll come back when they’ve aired at least 35 episodes because I simply don’t have the patience or the emotional bandwidth to have my feelings played with every day. I just can’t do it anymore! I need all the episodes now.
I already envy the people behind us who get to binge this from start to finish in like 3 days. 😂🥴
First 7 episodes were excellent and I hope they keep it up. I need all 40 episodes by tomorrow 😩. I may have to stop watching for a few days to binge because 2 a day is not cutting it for me lol.

Aww, I’m sorry to hear that you dropped it—I totally understand. But I actually really enjoyed it! I love Liu Yuning as an actor, so I was excited to see him in another lead role. He’s incredibly talented, and his voice? Amazing. The man can sing! I especially appreciated watching his character’s growth—from being consumed by vengeance and hatred to eventually forgiveness and opening his heart to the daughter of his enemy.
To be fair, she was innocent in all of it. It was the generation before her that harmed his family. She was thrown into a chaotic situation, and I think her character handled it the best she could under those circumstances. At the end of the day, that was still her family—a family who loved, spoiled, and protected her—so it made sense that she’d want to protect them and her people as well.
I also think she did a great job understanding his trauma—the pain and loss he carried for so long.
I truly commend the male lead for being able to let go of all that hurt and hate. Realistically, most people wouldn’t be able to do that. I gave his character a lot of grace because the amount of pain and trauma he had to work through was heavy. I even tried to understand his less-than-kind actions toward her in the beginning—they were both guarded and didn’t trust each other at first.
But overall, it was a good watch for me. I loved seeing a strong male and female lead who grew to love each other despite everything. That kind of dynamic is honestly rare in C-drama land, so I really enjoyed it.

Same, I dropped it for a little bit because I didn’t feel like waiting everyday to watch 1 or 2 episodes. I want to be able to skip all her scenes 😭. So I just picked it back up at episode 15 again today since I just finished watching Prisoner of Beauty.
Ming Tan is coming off as desperate and lukewarm to me and it's not only disgusting but annoying. You asked the…
Her character is a mess. I don’t think it’s a bad storyline but the writer could have done a better job developing the FL character. Just shallow, conceited and selfish.
I’ve watched 100s of Chinese dramas and this is probably like the 3rd or 4th drama I’ve watched where I can’t STAND the FL. Like her character attitude is not even like able to me. I’m watching for SWL and he’s the only reason why I’ve tried watching this drama ughhh!
But you pressed! You took time out of your day to comment. All you had to do was keep scrolling. Y'all are so weird on this dang website when you don’t agree with someone’s comment LOL! Sickos
If she's the cousin, where are the parents? It also raises questions. And people married cousins back then so…
Lol, it never fails! Like I scroll on here and I see peoples comments/perspectives that I may not agree with but I respect people's opinion. I don't go commenting under their comments just because I don’t agree with it or to argue my point. Like what? It's not that serious and get a life.

Every time I come here to vent (which is from time to time) I'm not a professional commenter. I get one of your kind under my comments. I think you people forget that people are entitled to their own opinion and not everything requires a rebuttal. I take it your heart hurts for Lu Chang too? LOL! My statement still stands, but carry on. I will not be responding a second time. But go outside and touch grass today you're too invested.
I really do not feel bad for Lu Chang. He literally put himself in this situation. He could have easily taken her as his cousin or adopted cousin. What did he think was going to happen when he came to capital? The capital of all places filled with Nobles and people also looking for her. Also, the very evidence he is now looking for he could have gotten it from FL father had he married her. The father told him he would give him something he was looking for LOL. This ML character is very short sighted he is so hell-bent on exonerating his master that dude can't even see clearly. He has made one bad decision after another. I really don't care for their storyline. Prince Rui and ShuJun storyline is more interesting 🙄.
