My review kinda biased
The dreaded remake word, and turned out wasn't as bad as I fear. As a person that watched and loved the original (it was my first thai y genre), so I had my rose-colored bias about the original.
Also to be noted I love Earn (definitely love Ngern) so I low-key shipping EarnNoh....I mean in my personal opinion Noh should've just date Earn instead being the side chick for Phun, a guy that want keep his cake and eat it too. But that's just my opinion and preference.
Compare to the original, the remake feels more like typical Asian highschool drama, more light....less hedonistic. It's cut many the girls' school drama which a plus point because it's concentrate the boys.
Many people hate Aim in the original because she cheated on Phun for no reason (to be fair later on Phun cheated on her with Noh), but in the remake they flesh out her.....so I kinda can't hate Aim in the remake because in the end she was being a highschool girl with controlling overbearing mother who wouldn't let her be herself, I think I might even sympathy with her because every highschoolers probably been there in a way.
And Yuri, she forever reminded me of my bestfriend.....two decades after highschool she's sadly still my bestfriend, dense as a brick, kinda dramatic but still ride and die even at my lowest. People can hate on Yuri but I love her.....in the original I even ship her with Pete even if it only last for a second 🤣
To be very honest I didn't get the chemistry of main leads, the remake didn't give heart fluttering as the original. Probably because Almond kinda give Phun that sulky-flirty diva Phun, while White was great in kicked puppy heartbroken Phun 🤣🤣🤣 Progress nailed Noh character, probably because he's in the same age as Noh, I got a dejavu as if I saw Captain's Noh in him.
Krit did fine job as Earn.....I still love Ngern, and forever think of Ngern as Earn whenever I re-read the novel. But Krit did pull my heart string over Earn's heartbroken moments as good as Ngern was.
Phop as Pete.....I don't want to be hater, maybe it wasn't fair to compare him to August as Pete, but Phop was so bland as Pete he's blending to the background. I invested more to Fi compare to him 🤦🏽🥲
All in it's better than expected remake, a lot more flirty and lighter the original.
