People wait to see the main couple’s consummation scene. If it happened in the middle of the drama, you have no idea how many viewers would’ve lost interest.
There are also extreme fan wars over popular actors, so it’s no wonder they avoided too many intimate scenes.
Most importantly, they’re following the novel. I wouldn’t even say they had fewer scenes. They had plenty of kissing scenes, just not aggressive ones.
