I love this drama so much, one of my confort shows. Matsushima Nanako is so good in this, well she is always amazing but her gradual transformation in this show is amazing, the writing is excellent as well Tsutsumi Shinichi who usually play terrible people, here he is the kindest guy ever.
Higashide is really a scumbag... Imagine choosing this role while being a cheater himself... What an absolute asshole. BTW I love the show, Haru made me hate her character, wonderful performance... I hated the other guy remained with his wife... But some women are like that in real life. Fortunately that wasn't the case with Watanabe Anne.
This drama is hilarious and profound at the same time... I don't know why is rated so low. I feel sorry for Mankichi and Chihiro, but you can't beat unfathomed attraction. It is a better characterized drama then a lot of dramas nowadays, dramas nowdays are too sanitized for my liking, the leads in this show are faulty humans, that hurt people in the path of their attraction, which is a more realistic approach to a lot of stories told in modern romances. Funnily you can see the last reminiscenses of the japanese 80s economic bubble here. Never seen Atsuko Asano so kawaii before...
The show is really good, but I hate when they try to redeem characters from nowhere. Hong Sena is just a terrible human being in every aspect. They try to justify her actions by her father's punishment methods that are clearly child abuse, but she clearly is a murderer and someone that let a little girl went missing without facing consequences. Other thing I feel is terribly written is finding Park Ha's mother... How absolutely dumb you need to be to not to sum 2 + 2 in their sutiation, over complicating that plot line for nothing.
Nao is so cute... I want to see this one!!! I have never seen Maryjun's sister Yu acting, is a good chance to see her, the resemblance is insane, the genes of that family are impressive.
This is the kind of dramas that I love when I am in the mood to watch introspective characters... I love this about character driven japanese shows, she is a beautiful mess and a really grounded character, a fresh view instead the bubbly, virtous, awkward, female lead japanese and in general asian archetype.
Why I feel that the 90s Japan where way more open to gay and complicated stories than nowadays, I think they at the time where on the brink to do an openly gay drama, but suddenly it took another 20 years to really commit to gay stories... Aside my complains, this drama is beautiful, love to see the early works of Uchida and Kimura, a shame that seemingly Isshiki left acting 20 years ago, but she sure was a very talented actress, no to mention her beautiful face.
Kitagawa Eriko in my opinion is the queen of japanese romance.
I always wonder if my detest for Hasumi was just me or subtly curated throughout the drama. I know part of it…
I feel exactly the same... The guy seemed only wanting to have sex with her, and I think they wanted to portrait the relationship as that, giving the abnormal relationship with Takeshi a more heartfelt core, Takezai is an enormous actor, he can make you hate him or love him depending on the role his playing, and in this drama particulary, he felt completely slimy, repulsive, chauvinist...
I need to see this one and compare it to the original japanese one... The japanese one is one of my favorite japanese dramas ever, so I am going to be a little biased...
I have seen 2 of her dramas, really good actress, I love her in The 101st Marriage Proposal, the other one is Sashow The Last Case, she did really well despite the drama being pretty mediocre. I need to see more of her recent shows.
People that hate this ending haven't loved someone as much as to being able to let go. That's the main reason why So-Chan let Natsuki go. He didn't want her to ask herself all the time, what if? The good thing is that they can be in contact for the rest of their lives without the drama of a marriage, I loved it... I prefer this ending that the one for Beautiful Life that is completely soul crushing, Eriko Kitagawa was in her bittersweet ending period at the time it seems. She is an amazing writer, all of the shows I have seen written by her are amazing. But Long Vacation is the best one.
The novel doesn't just imply, but directly acknowledges that Kotoha has been terrified all this time due to the…
I didn't know it was a novel, so in the end good to know it is not a direction choice from the show runners but actually an exploration in trauma in the original work. The only problem I find is given the short lenght of the drama, these themes seem rushed and superficial.
I loved it, except the implication Kotoha's lesbianism comes from the sexual abuse commited by her mother. But it is really romantic, the chemistry between the two lead actresses is astonishing.
This is easily one of my favorite japanese shows ever. I have seen it like 5 times already. It to be rated so low is criminal. The girls are totally amazing and beautiful, specially Baba Fumika, her character changing from sweet and innocent too gang member always makes me laugh. I haven't laugh so hard with something in a while as with the hairy guy...
Great actors, I am hooked... Matsu Takako always sells characters with trauma or a mental condition with such vulnerability and sincerity that you always end up emphatizing with the character. The wait for new episodes I know will be frustrating, because it looks really interesting.
75 acting credits, even more credits than a lot of Hollywood "stars", without counting soundtrack and tv appearances... I became a fan just last year watching Please Love Me, and started compulsively searching for her dramas since the beginning of her career, beautiful and talented woman... One of Japan's best.
This drama is made out of pure spite... I love the diversity in japanese dramas and how they explore the complexity of human psyche, but at the same time, I don't find any character a little redeemable. They all are terrible people. Some people get mad about teacher student relationships and crushes, but that's so common that not to mention it in student dramas would be bury your head in the sand, by a study in Sweden in 2013, one in 30 students have had a relationship with a teacher. Highly innapropiate, and I personally find it completely unethical, but it happens in all the planet and is more common than what some think.
One of the funniest japanese dramas I've seen from the 90s, Eguchi was really at his peak back then, not just in melodrama but in comedy as well. The opening song is amazing as well. I am watching it trying to enjoy each moment, I absolutely love the scenes in the flight attendand hostess bar.
I can watch this drama on a loop. I don't care what others think... I really think is really lovely, Sakura is adorkable, and those cuts where she is casually dressed as a warrior always make me laugh. Too enjoyable, at least for me.
I love that in the end it was the male lead I was rooting all the time. Sometimes some of these dramas leave me a bad taste when they go in a completely different direction from what is teased during all the show. The girl is a great actress, all male leads made a great job as well, is a really cute story with a great storytelling to keep you engaged during the whole 11 episodes.
