Complaints on HillTer's plot

Personally, I tried to catch up after the first 8 episodes were released, so I didn’t notice any boring parts or issues because I chose to watch it primarily because of Earth and Bas. I don’t mind Earth’s acting, as I know it’s common in Thai BL series, and overall, his performance really surpasses that of most actors in the industry. I came to the series because of him and ended up enjoying Pond and Maxky as well (especially Pond, haha). I've noticed that he’s really hyper in real life, which has made me more interested in him—just a little TMI, though! 🤣

However, I didn’t have any complaints about the series (HillTer) until I read the novel. Yes, Ter is a bit childish, chaotic, and has inner conflicts, but, at least both of them understand their past clearly. They fell in love during their high school years, and while Hill's family caught onto their relationship, Ter didn’t know the full story and thought Hill had dumped him. I haven’t finished the book, but I’ve read up to the part where Hill asks Ter if he can court him again. In the novel, Ter’s only issues are heartbreak and trust issues stemming from the belief that he was dumped. When Hill makes that request, Ter only thinks about wanting to revisit their past—that’s all.

Moreover, in the novel, we also get Hill's point of view, which enhances the story. In contrast to the series, Hill lacks 100% confidence and hesitates to pursue Ter again. What I love most about Hill is that he is a bit foxy; in the series, he is portrayed as too reserved. If I hadn’t read the novel, I would still enjoy the series version of Hill, but now I feel quite frustrated. Had they kept Hill's character more aligned with the book, I believe Pond Ponlawit could have showcased his acting skills better, and many fans wouldn’t have felt bored. I genuinely feel sorry for Pond and Earth. Although this series is set in a university, which is a common backdrop for the BL series, the characters are still different. The actors really need to excel, especially in emotional scenes, and I believe Pond and Earth would be perfect for that. Unfortunately, they haven’t had the chance to display their strengths.

I completely agree with you that the production team should read the reviews on MDL, especially the scriptwriters. I hope they don’t ruin the remaining three books! 🥲 I’m a fan of slow-burn genres, so I’m really looking forward to the South couple.

By the way, I think the cinematography in HillTer’s episodes is really great. Kudos to that! If they hadn’t changed the plot, the series would have been much more enjoyable to watch.

I wish I could see Pond and Earth in a new series that fully showcases their acting and chemistry, especially in a dramatic storyline. I’d love to see Earth beautifully crying with his pretty face. 😭🤣 It would be great if the series didn’t revolve around university life—maybe something set in an office or any other setting where Earth can showcase his fashion sense. I believe that series would stand out!

Also, I love the friendship scenes. It’s not just the doctor gang; I also enjoy the chaotic relationships in the art and engineering groups. I really appreciate the friendships that feel authentic.

They’re not all from the same company, and most of them met for the first time while shooting this series, yet they act like best friends, being noisy and chaotic whenever all ten of them gather. I really hope that Studio Wabi Sabi considers promoting all the actors through some variety shows or blogs. I get so excited just thinking about it! I want episodes of variety shows featuring these ten actors. Their lively and chaotic interactions would definitely keep viewers entertained without any dull moments, similar to the live session the doctor gang did to promote Maxky’s lipstick 🤣

Without thinking about anything else and just enjoying the series that can relax me, I will choose to rewatch. Apart from being frustrated with HillTer's plot, I really enjoy the series overall. Pond's acting is sometimes gone out of mood or stiff, and some actors' over-facial expressions, except those, I can tolerate and I will rewatch at least one time before part two start 🤣
