Isn't this the same storyline as the Wang Haozhen storyline, with an added child character? We have spoken about the WHZ drama - they have the same character names.
I completely agree with your review. Many things bother me about this plot, regardless of how many times or versions…
Also, I love the scene in the ML's office. Where he first tells his assistant to go to HR to get his resignation. Then, the FL drops in apparently on the assistant's request. And then the ML tells the assistant to go to the HR, to get a raise. :D
I completely agree with your review. Many things bother me about this plot, regardless of how many times or versions I see it. What I like about this particular storyline, featuring multiple suitors, is how they all initially set out to ruin the FL, but because of her indifferent attitude, they were instead drawn to her and fell in love with her. - Why are so many people bent upon ruining the FL's life for some poor researcher? I mean, okay, I understand you want to get back to your ex, but why do you need three people to ruin that girl's life? And why do you need to ruin someone's life for this? - In every version of this story, I love the character of Jiang Song. I love his banter with the FL and how he unwittingly falls in love with the FL. Other than the ML, I think he was the best suited for the FL. If only he weren't conspiring against her. Plus, I love the actor playing Jiang Song. - This version was indeed unnecessarily complex - I had no idea why she was resisting so much when there was a time she liked him. - I hated Shen Zhi zhi in this - her overall demeanor was of a snake - the way she talks comes out like a hiss. She pretends to be gentle and soft-spoken - and that fake thing is like nails on a chalkboard. - The sister is too rude. As a young lady of a reputed family, she is crass and disrespectful. (I don't know why they show young women from such elite families as crass and rude.)
Other than that, it is weird to see Sun Qian Xun in such a seemingly docile role and so soft-spoken, when we are used to seeing her outspoken.
What I also love in this drama - and every version of it - is his sister. She always stands by the FL (in fact, when the ML thanks her for maintaining her relationship with his sister, she says, "Do you think I respect her because she is your sister? She is my sister too.").
It was the first one of this story trope. And it was well done. Very straightforward. Jiang Song in this version is also an interesting character.
