In Islam, we also have jinn, and among them are the good ones and the disbelieving evil ones, who are the devils (shayatin). This is somewhat similar to what you mentioned in Chinese and Japanese mythology, except that Iblis as what they call him in this drama himself is indeed a devil.
For some reason I skipped every ML cry scenes.. I really hate how he victimised himself for the family massacre..…
I think it was a mistake on the part of the director and the scriptwriter to make him cry throughout the episodes. If he had cried and suffered once or twice, that would have been enough and we would have understood and sympathized with him. Instead, they made those scenes annoying and hard to watch, even though the acting was good.
Also, even Xiao Yiran cruelty toward him turned into a contrived, repetitive, and exaggerated scene meant just for drama and to stir the audience’s emotions, making them sympathize with XQS instead of creating realistic situations that would immerse us in the feelings the writer wanted to convey naturally.

haters gonna hate, don't take her seriously she just give her favorite idol dramas 10 stars and 1 star for others, so childish.
I've just started this series and somehow it feels off to me. I don't know what seems off. I don't think it's…
Many people are saying the costumes/dubbing is the problem but I can't with the story, like it's a bit childish for me and I feel that there are a lot of nonsense, I don't feel the heavenly vibes, the comedy isn't funny, I swear I love bailu and shunxi also my favourite genre is xianxia that makes me feel something is wrong with me....
