FOOL IN LOVE EPISODE 5 WAS SO GOOD, I'M LOSING MY MIND.

First of all, WITHOUT SPOILERS, can we talk about Ing for a second? Because I genuinely feel so bad for this man. I've been feeling sorry for him since the beginning, but this episode made it even worse.

He was SO HAPPY just because he and Yok were finally getting along, and Yok was the first person to kiss him without forcing himself on him. Do you understand how sad that is? After everything that happened between them, Ing was genuinely happy over such a small moment of affection. And when Yok was being gentle with him and taking care of him, you could actually see how much it meant to him. :((

AND YOK HAD TO OPEN HIS MOUTH AND SAY, "THIS IS ITT'S FAVORITE PLACE."

BRO. PLEASE. JUST SHUT UP FOR ONCE. WHAT WAS THE REASON????? 😭 You could literally see Ing enjoying the moment, and Yok just HAD to ruin it. I CAN'T WITH THIS MAN.

Meanwhile, Yok is already entering his obsession era, and it's getting SO obvious. LMAOOO. This man cannot seem to get enough of Ing, wants him all the time, and is clearly becoming more and more drawn to him. The irony of him being so hung up on Itt while acting like THIS around Ing is sending me. The self-righteousness, the denial, the happinesswhen he was messaging him... YOK, YOU ARE NOT FOOLING ANYONE.

But jokes aside, what hurts me most is how genuinely happy Ing looked when someone finally treated him with a little tenderness, my baby is so lonely since his childhood :( ... Beneath all his confidence, provocations, and red flags, there's a side of him that just wants to be cared for and loved. And knowing what's coming makes those little moments so much harder to watch. I'm NOT READY to see this man suffer.

And the ACTING??? AS ALWAYS, THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE. But BANK????? THAT MAN IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL. The way he portrays Ing's expressions, his little moments of happiness, and the way his entire demeanor changes when he's around Yok... He's absolutely EATING THIS ROLE UP. I genuinely can't imagine anyone else playing Ing anymore. Bank understands this character so well, and I'm obsessed with the way he brings him to life.

I'm probably getting way too attached to Ing at this point, but I DON'T CARE. He's been my baby girl since i read the novel and I'm standing by that.

PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO'S BEEN FEELING SORRY FOR ING SINCE THE BEGINNING. Because I swear, I just want this man to be happy for ONCE. I don't want to watch him lose that little light he still has in him.

YES!! I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT YOK. I think his sense of justice and his need to see himself as someone who's standing up for the victim play a huge role in how he perceives his feelings for Itt. He has convinced himself that Itt is the person he should love and protect, so when his feelings toward Ing start changing, it clashes with the image he's built in his head. And instead of questioning that image, he gets frustrated and tries to fight what he's feeling. I LOVE how you explained this because it makes so much sense!
And honestly, I'm SO happy to have found someone who shares my perspective and understands what I'm trying to say, especially when it comes to a series I'm this invested in. It's not every day you find someone who enjoys discussing characters and analyzing their motivations instead of just arguing over who's good or bad.

I don't think that part happened in the novel, if I'm remembering correctly! I remember Suiying ( Ing) stopping before going all the way with Li Yu ( Yok) , but it's been years since I read it, so a lot of the details are pretty blurry now. 😭
Can someone who's read the novel more recently confirm this? I don't want to spread misinformation when I'm not 100% sure about my memory!

I actually agree with you, and despite my criticism of some of the changes, I'm genuinely enjoying the adaptation so far. I especially like how they're developing Ing's character and making Yok's growing attraction to him more noticeable.

But my biggest concern is that people might end up taking Yok's side and justifying his actions because Ing pushed him too far. And I'm sorry, but NO. You can be angry with someone, hate them, or feel provoked by them, but none of that justifies rape. What Yok did to Ing TWICE was far beyond simply losing his temper. How can people overlook something that serious just because they understand his anger?

And honestly, based on what I remember from the novel, I have a different interpretation of Yok's feelings for Ing. I feel like his attraction might have been there from the beginning, but he was so blinded by his own idea of loving Itt that he couldn't recognize what he was actually feeling. His attachment to Itt seemed more like something he convinced himself was love, especially with how Itt manipulated him and influenced the way he saw Ing. Meanwhile, his feelings toward Ing gradually developed into something much deeper, until they turned into an obsessive, possessive attachment.

But the fact that he eventually falls in love with Ing doesn't erase what he did to him. If anything, the jealousy and possessiveness make his actions even more disturbing. He becomes so consumed by his feelings that he crosses boundaries he should never have crossed.

That's why I really hope the drama doesn't lose sight of Ing as a victim just because he's a morally questionable character himself. Ing can be manipulative, provocative, and a red flag without deserving what Yok does to him. Being a flawed person doesn't mean you deserve to be assaulted.

And I agree with you about the adaptation making Ing more lovable and giving us more reasons to understand him beyond his provocative behavior. I think that makes it even more important for the writers to handle his suffering properly. I want to see Yok's character development, too, but I don't want his love for Ing to become an excuse that makes the audience forget the harm he caused.

I'm genuinely curious to see how they'll handle this going forward, because I love the series so far, but I also want the writing to give both characters the depth they deserve without romanticizing the worst things they do to each other.

EXACTLY, that's what I'm worried about too. The actors are doing an incredible job, and I genuinely love their performances, but I'm concerned about how the series is going to handle the heavier scenes in the upcoming episodes, especially since we know things are only going to get worse.

And I agree with you that the source material plays a huge part in this. However, I think the adaptation still deserves some criticism when it comes to the changes it makes. For example, in the novel, Ing actually stops in that particular scene, whereas the drama changes it and takes things further. That's why I'm questioning their decision, because it's not simply a case of faithfully adapting something that's already in the source material.

I'm not expecting the series to remove these themes or make the characters morally perfect, not at all. I just want the narrative to acknowledge the seriousness of what's happening instead of potentially making it feel like a joke or something that can be brushed aside the next morning

Since I read the novel years ago, in my head, it was always Yok who raped Ing twice. So when I watched the drama and saw Ing forcing himself on Yoh to give him a blowjob while he was drunk, I initially thought they'd changed it to sexual assault rather than rape. But yeah, it was rape, too, and I honestly don't understand why they decided to change that scene so significantly.
In the novel, Ing doesn't go through with everything in that scene; he actually stops. That's why this change stood out to me so much.
And I REALLY feel you now, because after every episode, I find myself going back to compare the series with the novel and the manhua, checking what they added, what they removed, and what they changed. It's genuinely difficult when you've already read the original story because you can't help but notice every little difference, especially when those changes affect how you perceive the characters and their actions.
I want to enjoy the drama as its own adaptation, but at the same time, I can't help questioning some of their decisions. It's a struggle, honestly.

We all know Ing is a red flag, but WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE YOK TURN INTO A WHOLE BLACK FLAG. This man develops such a toxic, obsessive, and possessive attachment to Ing that things get SO much worse. He literally rapes Ing again out of jealousy.
I'm not defending either of them, because neither being a red flag nor being in love excuses violating someone's consent. But trust me, the situation is much more complicated than it looks right now. These two are going to make everyone's blood boil
