That's how female screenwriters know nothing about a man (and the culture) write them in art. A year of marriage and nothing happen, a man in that era will find another woman months ago, or the family will find him a concubine. Moreover, Jin Qi is in an army. He could have died anytime without an heir.

Jin Qi starts the conversation and opens up, but Lan Xiang refuses to open up and answers rhetorically. Scream, break the furniture, whatever, because they need to talk. Nope. Lan Xiang continues giving her husband the cold treatment. And the misunderstanding is to be continued...

I don't know what the screenwriters' goal by prolonged this misunderstanding.
