Historical Chinese dramas in the past don't have any modern lifestyle in romance genre. They hold hands, hug, and kiss on the forehead, but no lips-lock or intimate scenes. Even American and British historical dramas have no such intimate scenes.
The costume dramas you mentioned are influenced by modern cultures. They only wear the costumes but don't bear the customs. There's no way a man and a woman (not a husband and a wife) allow to be alone in a room in ancient China, or a woman strolling without her maid in the town or out of city, like you see in Story of Kunning Palace.
