This drama has a rating of 7.5 on Weibo, the lowest I've seen this year, so its 7.9 on MDL is actually quite high in comparison. Typically, Weibo ratings are inflated since they're mostly driven by fan reviews, while Douban ratings tend to be much harsher. The drama's lack of popularity in Mainland China is further evident from the fact that WXY only gained 30k Weibo followers after its release which is a very small increase by industry standards.

It's not top 3 on MaoYan yesterday and the past few days. He is always at the bottom of popularity rankings for mainland China celebrities. That's a fact.

It's a flop. There's no data that would suggest that it didn't flop. WXY is always at the bottom of the charts before and while this drama was airing.

Let's not lie here. It's clear it's a flop. This drama has a lower rating on Weibo. This drama can't even surpass an even lower budget drama that iQiyi released around the same time as this drama. Look at the heat index on iQiyi and the effective playback views on Maoyan, Yunhe etc. Let's be factual here. No need to drag other dramas like Legend of the Female General and say it's overhyped just to make this flop drama shine. WXY is just overhyped by Yu Zheng as the next big star but the visual is quite lacking and can't even carry a drama.

If that's how you guys cope. It's obvious that this drama is a flop when people are more interested in listening to the ending song.

They should consider casting LYN as the male lead and letting WXY sing the ending theme maybe that could still turn things around. When I looked up the drama on Weibo, most of the posts were actually about LYN singing the ending song.

I agree. This drama would have attracted viewers if they didn't drag other shows and actors to make this drama look better. Yu Zheng must be so embarrassed that this drama flopped so hard.

If iQiyi has a hall of shame, this drama will be number 1 in the list. Even water can't save this drama. Live broadcast with WXY only reached 1m viewers. Both leads can't carry a drama. WXY should wait next year once Unveil: Jadewind airs so that Bailu can do the weightlifting. For JX, she probably needs Deng Wei to carry her too.

Agree. I haven't read the novel nor watch the trailer. It gives off a similar vibe to Mulan which I used to like when I was a kid.
