Title Double Helix
I don't get how people like lu feng's character. He started off as one of the best characters and then he slowly…
Urgh, so totally hate to have to bring this up. Who is the celebrity that we are familiar with that is bipolar- Kanye West. Didn't he start off good and then didn't his mother die he couldn't cope stopped taking his meds. Then had a total crash out. Didn't he say he didn't like taking his meds cause they affected his creativity negatively. Didn't Kim Kardashian say publicly she had to make a decision for the safety of their kids. Didn't they try to have an intervention for him? Being that he is wealthy and entitled nobody can tell him what to do. And I'm sure the worse of what he did was never made public. Being that we know what the LuFeng character has now that he is bipolar, this entire series can be seen as an encouraging snapshot in the film histories of the life of a bipolar person. Look up the things on Kanye West, don't take my word for it. Another thing was ppl keep making jokes about him that someone needs to make him take his meds, (a total lack of sensitivity towards him) but he is rich and entitled, can't force him. Look at the way he treated his new wife. Explicitly s#%ualizing her in public. Kind of what LuFeng did to Yichen. Keep in mind though this film is about a fictional character and some scenes are meant to make us feel uncomfortable and make us think. We all need to put ourselves in the character's shoes and instead of scorning them gain some empathy. The series is good, I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Title Double Helix
It's crazy that I feel the need to say this, but as this series has an 8/10 rating, maybe I should. It is not okay…
I don't know where u r getting the notion that it is normalizing it. And I think it is gutsy to address a serious condition that thousands of couples and family members deal with worldwide. The same decisions Yi-Chen had to make and the decision that Lu Feng had to make in "Should he check himself into an institution.?" is a decision that countless ppl are making right this second. I'm surprised that they took a risk in including it in the storyline for a romance. The shortcomings of this drama are that it didn't have enough episodes flesh out the scope of the story, much like the original movie was cut too short to deal with the original LuFeng character.A lot of the negative reviews I'm seeing can be explained away by the fact that it had too few episodes for the content. Rather than complain I found it amusing when I predicted we were going to get 1 romantic beat per scene per episode, is that enough time to deal with a mental illness? They did a good job if only to include the salient parts. I'm glad the theme of entitlement from the original movie version still exists but they reshaped it and I'll low it. The biggest issue with the abusive boyfriend trope is the Entitlement theme, they handled it really well. For example. So his psychiatrist happen to play into the kidnapping scenario, and his assistant clearly knew he was holding Yi-Chen against his will, and neither of them did anything. Isn't a psychiatrist supposed to report such incidents to the authorities. Yichen is cool with his wife who shot him though by accident. These things can't be addressed in a 12 episode saga but for 1 liners. I find this story highly rewatchable.

This couple need to go on and do Viewfinder. I would be super impressed if they did it before a Japanese version could ever be received. It would become a world wide phenomenon if they were involved, and let's get it on every platform. 11 volumes 20 yrs old and still ongoing, You are my love prize in viewfinder. Extreme wishful thinking, but it would be cool if we could get it done. They just released 10 dance, let's get the juggernaut Viewfinder released as well.

Hey, I also want to add, there were many things in this show that weren't ethical or moral --- there's no value…

Well, this show is fiction and Lu Feng isn't a real person, is he? Try to keep fictional characters in fiction…
By they I mean China auture standards. There is a philosophy standing going in to watching almost all Chinese Cinema, Much like the Hays code. That is why you have an official Chinese Government acct on Weibo commenting on how a Fake Historical character from a fake story like Pursuit of Jade should be. Cinderella stories are bad, Rebellions are bad, bad things happen to bad ppl, good things happen to good ppl, and so on and so forth. Because LuFeng's behavior can be explained away by mental illness he can live. It is less fun to develop an argument around his psycho behavior though. This is why LuFeng in the original movie had to die, because he did something wrong, Fated Hearts Tyrannical Emperor had to die after a perfectly good redemption arc. Bad things happen to bad ppl. very rare you would have a happy ending for a complicated character, he can't do bad and end up good with a happy ending.

Title Double Helix Spoiler
😊 😃 😊 Look, I'm just happy that the comments section of one of my favorite shows is so robust. And they did the likely thing where they explained away the questionable behavior of the obsessive bl bf by * spoiler * mental illness which is what the final previews alluded to. I'm just upset because it nullifies the idea of entitlement behind the obsessive bf trope. If u haven't noticed obsessive bfs are often offset with their stations in life such as money, power and success. So for the production to introduce the 'mental illness made me do it' scheme I think it branches off into its own separate category. I both like and hate that they did that. But at least it increased its' rewatchability factor by 100%. Yes, I'm that 👧 at the party you regret starting a conversation with.

I agree, and keep in mind they didn't show us really anything to that effect for a reason. There was also statements made in the outlier scenes to imply that those harsher scenes never went into the violation stage, we still see Lu Feng basically begging Yi Chen to submit to him. Which would make no sense if he was constantly taking what he wants by force to begin with. I the SA happened they could not have a happy ending by Chinas' Hays code standards. I honestly don't believe they believe in the idea of the reformed criminal.

It was a complete BL !!!!I really want them to make this kinda more, glad its already avail on youtube
I liked it but am pissed it was more of a Shounen-ai than Yaoi. But I guess cdrama bls just not quite there yet. They are losing out to Tdrama bls though that are already exploring Omegaverse, something I thought I will never see in my lifetime.

Fucking queerbaiting
agree 1000% I like boy girl romance, but when I'm in the mood for bl romance, I want to watch bl romance. Nothing happens, not even a one sided love story, or accidental chaste kiss. Sad ending on top of it.

happy end?
yes, and it is saturated with xanxia tropes, everything you watched and loved in every single romantic fantasy over the past 2 to 3 years is in this drama.
