You love Smut? Steamy Scenes? Amazing chemistry? It's a must watch!
If you love smut, steamy scenes, great sexual tension and amazing chemistry Speed and Love will do all of that for you. Esther and He Yu's chemistry is out of the world. They are sexy, funny and cute. These two will definitely make you blush. They are a visual couple and play their roles well. Honestly He Yu really shines in this work! He played Jin Zhao perfectly. However, if you are into chemistry but plot is very important to you...this might make you have mixed feelings...[Plot]
Jin Zhao is an adopted brother who was separated after the divorce. Forced apart from his non-blooded adored little sister Jiang Mu; Jin Zhao's childhood is crumbled making sacrifices for his adoptive family to barely survive in Thailand, forcing him to drop his education. After many years Jiang Mu searches out for her brother Jin Zhao...except they aren't so little anymore. She learns that he is no longer the boy he used to be; bright, positive, book smart, and optimistic; instead she is met with a dark, reserved, cold faced Jin Zhao. Jin Zhao lives a fiercely dangerous life to make ends meet, however, it is much more than that. Esther learns his deeper darker secret that may cost him his future.
[My thoughts w/ SPOILERS]
Esther plays a bright, naive, big-hearted character who really is faced with a lot of change from her beloved 'brother'. I understand them being able to gain romantic interest despite their past relationship as sibling like. They were torn apart young before romance begins to even bud. So to me that makes more sense, it's not like Dexter and Debra situation from Dexter. IYKYK. What grinded my gears was, they ran with the steamy plot for far too long and ignored the actual story line a bit. As soon as they were officially dating, they rushed the plot fast. The whole part with him working for an undercover cop to clear his name was brushed and glossed over. After the big race and he got into an accident they spent nearly two episodes of Jiang Mu in Canada trying to re-date other boys. After the accident, suddenly EVERYTHING about the very mysterious case was solved and Jin Zhao made amends with past foes. RUSHED. As much as I love steamy, good feel, kiss scenes...I also do enjoy a good plot and great character arch. I would say the only person who had a growth arch....was honestly He Zhang (side character villain). The rest stayed as they were. There isn't a big huge message the directors seemed to want to let the audience know either. So if you're just looking for a smutty drama to watch, it will satisfy you. If you are looking for character depth, story plot, and great pace this drama might not check all those boxes. But I cannot deny Esther and He Yu have one of the greatest chemistry in 2025 drama realm!
ALSO....their BG NPC actors really made me cringe...and puke. Because man ngl, those did kind of rob my brain in the worse way possible. LOL.

[Enemies to Lovers] [Not too light hearted...not too dark...just right!]
I will have to preface, if you watch this drama thinking it will be the grander scheme of darker politics, overly the top schemes and repeating misunderstanding...it's not. If you love a strong FL, who is smart, understanding, and reasonable you will LOVE Man Man as much as our Wei Shao does! It is about grief, learning to trust, growing, forgiveness, and most of all what it means to have faith and trust in a partner to fulfill a vision. It is a true slow burn love relationship that will absolute melt you like a damn candle. This isn't the heaviest drama that sets in on physical fighting, but more so about strategic war fights that will get you to cheer for the two leads to win. The growth between the two leads are amazing and gradual, you can see when the love buds and how an arranged marriage starts to become more organic and true. The chemistry between Song Zu Er and Liu Yuning is out of the world! 100/10 chemistry, you will giggle, kick your feet, laugh out loud, and blush when these two are together. Liu Yuning and Song Zu Er did an impeccable job playing their roles as Wei Shao and Xiao Qiao. The side characters I were pretty fleshed out and had their own roles to play into the story. Only complaint I would say is the grandmother's facial expressions were hard to follow at times due to work being done to her face...which can make those emotional scenes a bit more harder to watch. I would rewatch this series over and over!

[XinXia] [Enemies to Lovers - Cursed love with NO redemption]
I watched this after Love Between Fairy and Devil because I saw the comparisons of DongFang Qing Cang and TanTai Jin...so I watched it to compared the two Devil Gods....they are both loved equally...I am sorry. HOWEVER, the main FL, Li SuSu is the most frustrating character if it weren't for TanTai Jin I would of dropped it. He carried the drama hard. It gives the Devil God who didn't have a choice but to be born "evil" he goes through all this tribulations in the mortal realm because he is supposed to be the DG. Can you imagine the pain and infliction a human must have to endure that? He is pitiful and shameless but you can't help but root for him. If you love seeing the ML to receive injustice, be misunderstood over and over, hated on, betrayed, hurt, mistreated and have not a lick of redemption...this is for YOU!Luo YunXi's acting in here is amazing, he really dives into all of his characters he plays in this drama (Ming Ye, Taitan Jin, Jiu Min, and the Devil God) effortlessly. They are ALL distinguishable and great. His micro expressions with his eyes are quick and impactful.
Bai Lu always does great with her role to make you feel something on the screen. She serves all her roles without dropping a sweat. She played Li SuSu well, however, a very distasteful character at that.
[SPOILER]
The two main leads have amazing chemistry despite the fact that I despise Li SuSu and her...literally gr8ping TanTaiJin and MingYe...twice. Is insane to me. TanTai Jin will literally go the end ends of the moon for YeXi Wu/Li SuSu...without a doubt. This Xinxia will make you feel, you will cry, you will cuss at the screen. The ending is honestly one of the worse way to honor him and his tribulations he had to go through to bring peace to all realms...there is no true redemption for Tantai Jin at all. The only person who truly trusted that he was meant to be good, and deserves to choose his own path is his master whom he was a disciple for. The fact the even Li SuSu couldn't love him and trust him enough like her uncle in insanity. I would NEVER rewatch this series again, only clips.

[Enemies to lovers - Wuxia - Dark, schematic and suspensful!]
This is a wuxia and one of my first Wuxias actually. It's a dark and suspenseful, it keeps you on your toes for sure. Chemistry between Esther Yu and Zhang ling He were okay in this drama. It wasn't amazing nor was it bad. They played their roles and that was that. Story line was well paced, and had great turns that will make you point at the screen. I loved it for the most part, how schematic it was, however, it's an unfinished drama that tries to sell it as an open ending. If you like open ended dramas, this will just itch your skin in the worse way possible. Because after all that amazing writing, twists and turns, they end it in a very unfinished note that keeps you wondering where is the next episode? It does not feel like an ending at all. Open endings should keep you guessing what ifs, this isn't the case. It's absolute f*ckery....anyways...watch it daringly if you decide to. I picked it up just because I wanted to see how Esther Yu and Zhang Ling He's chemistry would be after watching Love Between Fairy and Devil. This work is not their best works, however, story line for the most part still ran great minus whatever ending they give you.Was this review helpful to you?
Want to cry like a newborn? Just watch it!
I watched it in 2017 when it came out. The only drama that I have rewatched more than 2 times! I watched it 3 times. It's always refreshing, funny, heart wrenching, romantic, good feeling, every emotion you can think of. Kim Go Eun deserves the fame from this drama set, all the cast did incredibly well! Loved it and I am sure you will too! I got a few non drama lovers enjoy this series! Was this review helpful to you?
