exactly my thought they don't really care about her character she got the most ugly costume design in this drama…
ZCJ is not a likable character, but she is a relatable one. The things she does in the story are not out of her character. I relate to her dearly and it’s very hard to admit it. She grow up without a good family and she tried her best to the a heroine, in her belief system she thinks that as long as she tries hard she will succeed. But she nonetheless feels inferior to her peers and especially to her crush TLC who just seems so out of reach. She gets a lucky break to become royalty and she takes it, yes it’s a flawed decision but that’s a very realistic choice that someone would make. This is a very nuanced character and her arc is really special.

Ok, that’s not true. She has a full backstory and a character development arc, you can’t say the show doesn’t care about her. Now the princess head piece is ridiculous indeed, but I think it’s the costume designer’s intention to make it so. Because she is not the real princess, the look is supposed to look unsuitable for her. The fact that the audience doesn’t like the look is exactly reflective of the uncomfortable situation she is in.
Just came from Weibo and the screen writer made the post about narrative style of WoF, he hints that what we know so far is all from TLC’s perspective, there is another 2/3 of the mystery to be revealed. Also don’t believe every thing at face value, for example, Ye MO’s story is telling his own story, but is he telling the truth?
Puzhu is a former crown prince? Just how many princes of the last dynasty are there, out in the world? Though…
TLC and LY’s relationship is complex. From TLC’s perspective, LY is a brother and best friend, he knows that LY has been deceived by GuiMuDan, so he always has a soft spot for him
I have always wondered all these coughing up of blood…just how much blood they have!????? SOMEONE CURE TANG…
I think people complained about too much blood spitting in TTEOTM so they dialed it back in WoF, and also poked fun at it with that blood can scene haha
This is his whole arc T.T he starts of only caring about his won life, but when he develops feeling for the world and the people around him, it would be time for him to……
I just finished ep 18 and I feel the whole dramas are full of fan services for us, LYX fans! Every costume, every…
FangYiLun resembles ChenFeiYu in a lot of ways, and LiuYan’s twisted feelings for TLC is a lot like TaXianJun in HYX. And guess what, XiFangTao is also ShiMei in HYX.
From day one of the drama I wanted to be not lost - waiting for the story to unfold at face value - and rolling…
That’s too bad because this drama is full of details, plot twists and depth, and that is why it’s miles ahead of other cdramas. The “aha!” feeling when the mysteries unfold has been keeping me at the edge of my seat everyday. If you have questions please post, hopefully we can help, there is also a good post about all the hidden details in this forum that might be able to help you.
A Shui strong woman moments: 1) tells TLC “no you are not sorry” when he apologized for grabbing her throat . She is actually the only person that talks back to TLC in this show, she just delivers it gently. 2) covering up TLC’s healing wound to protect his secret, and she never asked him about it after either. “everyone has their secrets” 3) tells TLC “just because you can heal, doesn’t mean you don’t get hurt” 4) goes and gets help from the YanMen( the bird clan) and literally saves TLC and Chiyun from being buried by fire. BTW, TLC never told her to do it, she just figured it out herself 5) figures out the accounting issues with the merchants at Sword city , and keeps a record to show Shao Jian Ping, providing key evidence. A woman does not need to be loud or fierce to be poweful. A Shui’s compassion and wisdom are her strongest qualities. Her femininity is STRONG. About time to have a heroine that doesn’t need to act like a man.
But there is romantic undertones with TangLiCi and A Shui, their chemistry is fantastic 😍😍
It’s sprinkled through out the show, I can feel it starting episode 1. They both have super high EQ, and while TangLiCi seems to be able to influence everyone else in the show, she is the only one that can influence him. He has suspicions about her motives so he is pretty guarded all the time, but you can tell he is falling for her. Honestly while there are “ no romance” in the sense that no couple ends up together, the chemistry between TangLiCi and A Shui is so good that it matter that they do, it’s the journey that will make your heart flutter
