This is already way more for the director. She's used to winning awards and being famous for shortform and micro dramas only. This is her first step into the longform genre with big scale production. So best to keep expectations limited. (hard, I know)

If you are talking about solo lead role, Soul Judgement of Nine Rivers is indeed his first. The director waited a whole year for him because she didn't consider anyone else for the role :))
As for other non GJM related series, he has >an important support role in The Legend of Rosy Clouds (started filming before MJTY aired), >a lead role in Preview Farewell by the critically acclaimed director Xu Zheng, >and a morally ambiguous special lead role in Yi Lu Can Lan.
Another fun fact, PF team was initially skeptical to cast TJR because he was from ZUI, so he had to convince them through a highly demanding audition process. They loved him after that :))
