This is the first time I felt the time constraints of 40 episodes affect the story. This episode’s story felt…
1. She threatened to kill the hostage if they didn't let them go. The soldiers went to inform the marquis. And as someone mentioned in another comment, the general who let her in knows that FCY is the marquis' wife and would not have attacked her once she put the knife to SYQ's throat.
2. If the marquis is not present, the enemy have a chance to get back SYQ and the supplies since the marquis' troops are missing their leader.
3. They didn't exchange SYQ. The bartered his life/heirs for food. When the attack happened, they withdrew with the food and the hostage
The characters need to be flawed in order for the story to be engaging and their actions (mistakes or not) need…
The script is already amazing, each action has consequences like a butterfly effect. If the FL wouldn't have taken pity on a stranger half frozen to death, they would have lost the war. She forgave granny Kang, so granny Kang protected Changning. She spared the life of little Sui when the rebellion happened, so he took revenge on her village. Qi Min's nanny took the boy away and was killed, but in doing so he was saved from drowning when the dam broke.
Two kinds of viewers are really infuriating😭 One is those who can’t tell the difference between their favorite…

The screenwriter was great at building up characters and storyline that I agree with others needing more that…
They could have done something like the Peony drama did last year - sorry the title eludes me But then again, maybe the pacing would have suffered and the story would have dragged.
No but do ancient Chinese war headgear really look like that? Xie Zheng’s entry scene was supposed to look cool…
It's because we are not accustomed and exposed very much to other cultures.
Roman Centurion helmets are ridiculous too, so are tricorn hats worn in the 18th century in Europe and many others. But due to repeated exposure in our media, they were "normalised" and became "acceptable" to western viewers.
I'm trying so hard to keep from watching this until it ends so i can binge the whole thing but i keep finding…
OMG you are going to enjoy this so much! My favourite is also LLTG and love the screenwriter.
I have started reading the novel Chasing Jade and I can see she did great job with the adaptation. The script is very well written, the story well paced. She knows what elements to remove from the novel and what elements to add to make the story work as a drama and be faithful to the intentions of the novel at the same time.
And when you add the well rounded characters, whether they are main/supporting leads or ensemble, you get a compelling story about people you will never forget.
They have lots of promo videos on rednote. More than the main couple.
Both. We have videos from the actors doing tiktok dances, repeating iconic scenes from the drama, playing games with the little boy, interviews together etc. They seem to be online every day with new content to promote the drama and people love them in the comments.

And there are lots of fan made edits too.
