From Rivalry to Something More

I haven’t read the manga, but I liked how this first episode opens with an ordinary meal. Ao passing his unwanted onions to Midori gives us a glimpse of their familiarity before we go back to where it all began.Midori works hard to be the best, so losing first place to the seemingly carefree Ao really gets under his skin. Challenging him in a relay race only makes things worse! Yet somewhere along the way, the boy he wants to beat becomes the boy his eyes keep searching for.Ao’s affection seems to shine through so naturally, while Midori struggles to understand and express his own feelings. That awkwardness is quite relatable. He seems to like Ao too, but putting it into words is another matter. And somehow, he has already become Ao’s designated raw-onion eater. I found that little detail rather sweet.

Loved, but Still Not Equal

Miyata knows Iwanaga loves him. That certainty is what makes his struggle so interesting: he wants the scales to balance, yet he cannot see what he brings to their relationship.Iwanaga’s former lovers seem able to offer knowledge and inspiration. Miyata compares himself with them and dislikes both his jealousy and his own perceived inadequacy. Being loved does not settle the question he keeps asking himself: “Am I his equal?”He considers himself a practical realist, but this is also the boy who once thought his saved New Year’s gift money could fund their elopement. There is something stubbornly romantic about him, and I love that complicated, occasionally exasperating side of his character. My wish for these two is simple: let them live in an expensive apartment, grill supermarket bargain fish, and enjoy fine wine together. I want to see them find happiness in a daily life that makes room for both of them.

A Fake Marriage, but His Eyes Are Already Giving Him Away

Episodes 1–2 offer a fun start to Yin and War’s police rom-com. Thia’s mother arranges a six-month marriage to fix his bad luck, and fellow police officer Mangkon happens to meet the fortune-teller’s very specific conditions.Their affectionate newlywed act lasts only until they get into the car for work. At the police station, their marriage is a secret, and Mangkon finds himself handling paperwork, replacing toner, and cleaning instead of working on the important cases he hoped for. What I enjoyed most was watching Thia notice Mangkon’s efforts. Mangkon complains but still does every task carefully, and Thia’s eyes already seem to betray how fond he is becoming of his earnest, argumentative husband. War makes those reactions especially endearing.Meanwhile, marriage has done little to improve Thia’s luck, and his mother thinks they need to take their married life a step further. That leaves us with a very awkward predicament—and a good reason to watch the next episode!

When Pretending Starts to Feel Real

Van taking on Rakhun’s ghost problem by pretending to be his boyfriend makes for a charming Episode 3. He approaches it as paid work, but his practical, money-first attitude clashes with Rakhun’s romantic expectations.Watching him adjust is the fun part. Regular messages, rides to university, even sleeping beside Rakhun—what begins as a routine assignment gradually starts to affect him. His change is noticeable enough for the other club members to catch on, too!The female ghost adds an intriguing mystery, especially since Rakhun apparently cannot see her even when she appears to Van.Then there is Kan, the boyfriend who previously ran away and left Rakhun behind when the ghost frightened him. Van may be doing a job, but he is also making the effort to stay. Once the haunting is resolved, I am curious whose company Rakhun will actually want.

Teaching Him the Colors of Life

What stayed with me most in Episode 7 was James explaining the colors of the rainbow to Ken. For a man who has lived for two hundred years and still longs for death, this quiet moment felt like an invitation to experience life again.James wants to spend his lifetime with Ken, yet he also recognizes that Ken’s wish to die has not disappeared. That makes his affection especially moving: loving Ken does not mean he fully understands or can erase his pain.Meanwhile, Jirat’s disappearance brings a frightening turn to his growing relationship with Chita. Both couples are becoming more deeply attached, just as the mystery puts those bonds in danger. The tenderness and suspense work beautifully together. I am increasingly invested in these characters—and increasingly afraid for them.

Suzuki, It's You! How Can You Still Not Realize It? 😂

Episode 8 was absolutely adorable.Suzuki has finally realized that he has fallen for Serizawa. The problem is that he also knows Serizawa has liked someone since their first year of high school. When they go to the beach with their friends and some popular girls from their class, Suzuki immediately starts wondering whether one of those girls might be Serizawa's crush.Unable to stand the uncertainty any longer, he finally asks Serizawa directly.Serizawa tells him that his crush is someone he has liked since their first year, someone who became his classmate in their second year, and someone he is always spending time with now.Suzuki...IT'S YOU. 😂Everyone else seems to understand what is happening. Even the girls can read the atmosphere. But somehow Suzuki continues looking everywhere except at himself—and eventually decides Serizawa must be talking about Takeuchi! At this point, I almost feel sorry for Serizawa. He has been so kind and attentive to Suzuki, and he is practically describing him directly, yet Suzuki still doesn't realize it.But perhaps that's exactly why Serizawa fell for him.Suzuki isn't pretending to be innocent or playing hard to get. He genuinely doesn't imagine that someone as popular and attractive as Serizawa could have been in love with him all this time. That's what makes their relationship so sweet.Suzuki has finally realized his own feelings. Now he just needs to realize that Serizawa has been looking at him the same way for a very long time.

Episode 5 slowly moves both relationships forward.

Dean and Moss are getting closer, but what interested me more this time was Ten and Dr. Pan. Ten has always believed that staying by Pan’s side as a friend would be enough. But watching the person you love fall for someone else is painful, and his feelings are becoming harder to hide. At the same time, Pan seems to understand Ten’s feelings more than he

The Immortal Man Who Finally Found a Reason to Live

Episode 5 became a major turning point for both the romance and the mystery.Ken tried to send James back to headquarters to keep him safe, but James recognized the same light he had seen when his father was killed—the light released when a NOUR uses their power. He was furious that Ken still refused to trust him with the truth.Surprisingly, Pon and Tanmay were the ones who stopped James from leaving. They reminded him that the entire police station, and especially Ken, had changed since his arrival. If James truly loved Ken, he needed to uncover the truth and talk to him.Professor Jee already knew that Ken was a NOUR and that Ken had been searching for another NOUR to end his long life. He suggested that Ken consider living with James instead, but after two hundred years of loneliness, choosing life was not easy for him.James finally revealed that he could sense Ken’s true nature and promised to protect him from then on. After being loved despite his secret, Ken chose to trust James, and the two finally became one.Meanwhile, another NOUR appeared to be targeting Professor Jee, and Chita became even more mysterious. He could not eat the curry prepared by Jee’s mother and suddenly vomited. Was it really just nervousness about meeting his lover’s family?Ken, an immortal man who had been searching for death, is beginning to imagine a future because he has fallen in love. A NOUR in love is unexpectedly adorable.

Love Was Never the Problem

This episode was much more painful than its colorful packaging suggests.Chen sacrificed himself to protect Fourmod. He rewrote their precious memories as the delusions of a sasaeng fan, erased the truth that they had been lovers, and made himself the villain so Fourmod could keep his career.Barbin’s situation was equally heartbreaking. He truly loved Bua, but he could not abandon Fourmod, his longtime friend and idol, when Fourmod was in crisis. Romantic love and devotion to an idol were not the same kind of love, yet Bua was still left feeling that he would never be Barbin’s first choice. No one separated because they had stopped loving each other. They separated because love alone could not resolve their fears, responsibilities, and conflicting loyalties.Baby wants to know why his fathers separated because he seems to believe that he caused it. He loves his childhood friend Gel, but how can he begin his own love story while fearing that his existence—and perhaps his love—will destroy the people closest to him?GELBOYS is not a story that ends with “I love you.” It asks the far more painful question: how do people live with that love?

The Kindness He Fell in Love With Makes Him Jealous

The hot spring trip was filled with the quiet happiness of an established couple. Matching yukata, sharing delicious food, sleeping side by side—and even Shiono, who rarely shows his emotions, could not completely hide his smile. However, the very kindness that made Shiono fall in love with Takoi also becomes the reason for his jealousy. Takoi is naturally warm and gentle with everyone, while Shiono has loved him ever since Takoi spoke to him when he was a high school student. His jealousy may be troublesome, but knowing that Takoi was his first love makes his feelings understandable—and rather endearing.A sweet episode that gradually leads the couple toward one final misunderstanding before the finale.

The Ex-Boyfriend Appears, but Miyata Is Still the Cutest

Another one of Iwanaga’s ex-boyfriends appears—this time, Rui, a young and graceful man who is as affectionate as a cat.Miyata knows that asking his partner for a bite with an “Aaahn” may look childish for a man in his thirties. Still, when he is with Iwanaga, he cannot help acting a little silly and jealous. And Iwanaga finds every bit of it adorable.I thought this episode would be about the threat of a charming ex-boyfriend. Instead, it was another episode of Miyata being completely adored by his senpai. What exactly am I watching? I have no idea—but they are too cute, so I will allow it.

Afraid to Love Because Their Fathers Couldn’t Stay Together

This episode finally puts Gelz and Baby at the center, and their story is much sadder than their colorful world suggests.Baby has loved Gelz for years, but Gelz is too childish to notice. Even worse, Baby is afraid to confess. Their fathers once loved each other deeply, yet still ended up apart. If that could happen to them, how can Baby believe that his own love will last? For a moment, it seems that Gelz and Baby have finally understood each other’s feelings. Then Gelz, who already knows the real reason their fathers separated, suddenly runs away and leaves Baby behind. The fashion and nail art remain bright and playful, but underneath them is a painful story about children inheriting their parents’ fear of love. They are already in love—they are simply terrified of how it might end.

Love That Refuses to Back Down

After winning together, Sun and Bay are separated again—not by distance, but by their fathers’ refusal to accept their relationship.Sun’s hesitation is frustrating, but understandable. As an only son raised by a divorced and lonely father, he feels that choosing Bay would mean betraying the man who raised him. Bay, however, refuses to let inherited resentment decide their future. He follows Sun to the senior training camp, and their brief time living together is sweet, warm, and completely natural.Of course, their happiness does not remain hidden for long. The fathers could join hands to cheer for them on the tennis court, yet cannot accept them as a couple. What a strange Romeo-and-Juliet situation!Bay is definitely the stronger one here.
