im on ep15 rn and i realized most of the dramas i watched has pretty much smart FLs and i think i prefer that 😭 they dont have to be perfect but they must have smart in them
i lowkey get frustrated not just by the FL in this drama but the ML too. i like villains that can compete with the main characters and i think the antagonists in this drama can fit that criteria but rn i feel like the supposed main characters are way below the cunningness of the antagonists like come on nowwww you guys are supposed to have some sort of talent to anticipate and plan given the situation but meh
i just try to remember this is supposed to be a light hearted drama so i dont get too upset with the characters hahaha
it’s a very light comforting drama! i felt happy watching episodes daily 💗💗💗
just like others, i wish they wouldve shortned the high school period a little bit (or extended the episode number to 35 maybe lol) and expanded more on their adult life and how the relationships of the second and third couple developed - i wouldve loved to see that instead of having everything rushed towards the last 3-4 episodes 😮💨 it felt unrealistic tbh but still…. i loved each of them!! i just wish we had more time!!!

ok i just reached ep26 and omg the fml is starting to frustrate me. ive read a good amount of comments and reviews saying the fml is annoying the fml is unreasonable etc. when i read them i was like okaaayyyy i dont think i could be annoyed by a fml (i always stand by the fmls in every drama even if they do wrong lol) but omg i think this is the first drama that made me lowkey irritated bc of the fml. i hope hope hopeeee this doesnt last longer because im halfway thru the series and theyre making the ml suffer more and more and making me get irritated bc of the fml and this never happens!!! im supposed to be always for the girlies!!!! but anyways…. this drama is soooo much fun despite all that. the production and sfx and ost is top notch lol
i didnt watch this right away despite LYX (my faveeee) being in this drama bc of the mixed reviews. i didnt have big expectations when i watched but it was a good enough imo! it’s a very veryyy light hearted drama so i think ppl need to be aware of that before proceeding so they can set their expectations right
some of my random thoughts: - there are lots of hilarious scenes in this drama that made me burst out laughing, i forgot whens the last time i laughed out loud like that 😂
- idk if they cut scenes or the script is really that weak but the conflict resolutions of some of the arcs feels unsatisfying and some storyline didnt make sense esp towards the end but again i didnt really mind cuz it’s a v light drama and imo didnt need to be perfect
- despite being a lyx fan i lovelovelove le shan the 5th sister! shes hilarious shes the character that made me laugh the most
- my favorite pairing is kangning and chai an, i think their story is the story thats most developed. maybe it’s bc it’s the first arc and they didnt have to cut lots of scenes? but yea theyre the ones that make most sense to me
- chen he yi (yang xi) is soooo sooo handsome but his acting needs improvement esp in emotionally charged scenes. theres a scene in the drama where he gets into kind of like a heated argument with liang yong qi (hui zhao) and omygooodd the difference in acting is super evident. i believe this is in episode26
- the 2nd sister and her husband is super funny too despite having the least amt of screentime. theres just something about guys thats super afraid of their wives haha
- ok thats all the random thoughts that i can remember while watching the drama. i like it and gave it an 8/10!!!
at episode 24 rn and im surprised at how theres not one episode yet thats boring. at this point in most cdramas ive watched, there would be episodes and arcs that wont hold my attention but wow the double is amazing in that regard. no wonder it’s 8.8 on mdl lol. hopefully i wont be disappointed for the last 16 episodes!!!

lol i just remember - this is the first drama i watched where it’s obviously a rebirth…? i thought that was like banned or smthn in china? did anyone explain this already… this is like my first thought after watching ep1 hahaha

• this is the first costume drama that i watched that only has few eps (compared to usual 40). i was wondering how theyre gonna do it and was contented how they did it
• 90% politics and scheming, 10% romance (tbh it feels 95%-5% haha) so for ppl who are gonna watch for the romance take note of that
• this is veryyyyy fast paced. sure the middle kinda drags but still very very fast paced. i didnt mind it being like that because it was consistent throughout, from the start it’s already what youre getting so it’s acceptable (for me) that is how the story is told. (what usually would bother me [and other ppl] would be where dramas would be nicely paced for the first 3/4 of the drama and they decide to make the last quarter of the story fast paced - that feels jarring for the viewers!)
• also feels like all three of the “villains” shouldve been credited as main role because they have vital roles in the drama and really takes up screentime
• also felt like Xie Yanfang has more screen time on the drama esp the last few eps where we see more of him and Chu Zhao compared to the ML Xie Yanlai
• Tang Xiao Tian is soooooo hot you guyssss it’s the first drama I watched him in and hes sooooo eye candyyyy🫠 i need him as ML in a costume drama
• love the smart FL and Chen Duling herself! shes so pretty!! and i cannot believe shes born 1993 she looks 25!!!
• omg i cant believe i almost forgot the CINEMATOGRAPHY AND MUSIC is amazing!!! the use of colors and the editing of scenes and the use of specific sound and music at important moments really contributes to the overall vibessssss i loved every moment of it!
• 8/10 for me! it’s only 24 eps, the story was engaging enough, i’d recommend if you wanted something easy to watch hihi
