lol i just remember - this is the first drama i watched where it’s obviously a rebirth…? i thought that was like banned or smthn in china? did anyone explain this already… this is like my first thought after watching ep1 hahaha
yay just finished it! here are some of my random tots~
• this is the first costume drama that i watched that only has few eps (compared to usual 40). i was wondering how theyre gonna do it and was contented how they did it
• 90% politics and scheming, 10% romance (tbh it feels 95%-5% haha) so for ppl who are gonna watch for the romance take note of that
• this is veryyyyy fast paced. sure the middle kinda drags but still very very fast paced. i didnt mind it being like that because it was consistent throughout, from the start it’s already what youre getting so it’s acceptable (for me) that is how the story is told. (what usually would bother me [and other ppl] would be where dramas would be nicely paced for the first 3/4 of the drama and they decide to make the last quarter of the story fast paced - that feels jarring for the viewers!)
• also feels like all three of the “villains” shouldve been credited as main role because they have vital roles in the drama and really takes up screentime
• also felt like Xie Yanfang has more screen time on the drama esp the last few eps where we see more of him and Chu Zhao compared to the ML Xie Yanlai
• Tang Xiao Tian is soooooo hot you guyssss it’s the first drama I watched him in and hes sooooo eye candyyyy🫠 i need him as ML in a costume drama
• love the smart FL and Chen Duling herself! shes so pretty!! and i cannot believe shes born 1993 she looks 25!!!
• omg i cant believe i almost forgot the CINEMATOGRAPHY AND MUSIC is amazing!!! the use of colors and the editing of scenes and the use of specific sound and music at important moments really contributes to the overall vibessssss i loved every moment of it!
• 8/10 for me! it’s only 24 eps, the story was engaging enough, i’d recommend if you wanted something easy to watch hihi
finally finished watching! the premise is super interesting but imo couldve been written better huhu. the acting of all the cast are so gooood thats why i thought it’s a shame the script is not up to par to their talent. i still enjoyed TXW and XK and the rest of the cast and that post credit scene omgggg hahaha so i still gave it an 8/10 hehehe
the chemistry is insaneeeeee!! this and the OST carried imo! im always smiling whenever theyre on screen it made my cheeks hurt 😭 i really liked the drama! 9/10 for meeee 💗also wanna say zhang bin bin styling here is so sooooo boyfriend ugh!! his voice and smile is melting me..also loved loved esther’s styling here! shes adorable as always and her chemistry with her MLs is undeniable like shes made for romance dramas 🥺💗
im watching my 4th esther yu drama and i really really like her yall 😭😭😭 the way her voice changes when she speaks while she’s laughing is my favorite 😭💗😭💗 her chemistry with her MLs is insaneeeee, her acting is always so natural like shes just portraying a side of her real self, and her cute gestures when shes being playful, and the fact that she sings for her dramas’ OSTs is just chefs kisssss!!! i honestly dont get the hate for her i just think everything she does is adorable :((( i prob would watch all drama she has just for her alone haha
ok i just wanna vent out my feelings i feel like im becoming more obsessed with her the more drama of hers i watch 😋

yall i just finished it and omygod dont be too discouraged by the negative or mixed reviews and just watch the drama yourself.
i thoroughly enjoyed the romance on the first half of the drama and their chemistry is amazing. however the last half of the drama was actually, really, so good in my opinion. i see that most of the comments on this drama has been on how the second half was such a letdown - which i understand esp if you went in hoping for the romance focused on the leads. but omg you guys. this drama showcased a not very confusing storyline involving reincarnations, time travels, destiny, whatnot. and i kid you not i feel like this is the first xianxia drama that i watched where i didnt have to turn off my brain to accept what was happening - i was actually able to follow what the director/writer wanted to show in the story and i had to pause to take everything in. ugh im so not good at words and explaining things but basically i loved how i was not confused with what theyre trying to tell the viewers when it comes to story (which is rare i feel like in xianxias..). it was beautifully showcased and props to the prod team and actors for that.
anw i rated this 10/10 just because of that last half alone. i really really really!!! enjoyed it. plus bonus is the visuals, costume, and esp the OST. this drama has such iconic OSTs! the song choice per scene fits perfectly well it will hit you in the feeeeels.
sorry for the mini rant. i just hope that whoever’s reading this who’s still thinking about watching it will give this drama a chance!!
sadly yes in ep 27 he took life of ML and FL as he loves fl and gave her some kind of jade which can protect her…

finally finished all eps! couldnt argue with the visuals definitely a 11/10. but the story couldve been developed better esp with the last few episodes. it wouldve been really interesting to see the backstories unfold if it was paced and revealed properly. the start of the story was paced nicely but towards the end it felt like they wanted to wrap everything as soon as possible that they threw everything altogether and expect the viewers to pay as close attention as possible so youll understand the story lol.
the acting for me is 10/10! this is my second TXW drama and third ZLH drama. txw is sooo sooo good and is super super gorgeous im in love with her, for zlh, i feel like compared to past dramas of his that i watched, he improved a lot. hes so good in this!!!
i know the next thing ill say might be controversial but the chemistry was at best 7/10 for me. is it because i didnt get as much romantic parts as id liked? maybe… but chemistry of the leads of a drama is subjective and this is just my overall impression of it!!!
i rated it a 9/10! definitely a must watch just for the visuals itself!
currently on ep34 and am i just not paying attention or….? the scene jumps are confusing me these last few episodes. even the relationship between changyu and xie zheng had me questioning myself. last scene of them i remember theyre still kinda not okay then the next scene i see of them theyre all lovey dovey😭 like did i skip a scene where they talked it out, cleared any misunderstanding, and defined the relationship or what? then theres a scene where the emperor begs wei yan for help bc someone is trying to depose(?) him but the scenes before that doesnt really pertain to anything of that sort. idk if i make sense. ig theyre trying to fit and complete everything within the 40eps restriction but i’d hoped they paced it well esp with how crucial the storyline is for the last few eps

im excited! i hope it’s a proper bonus/special episode. i got deceived by LBFAD’s special ep with this. i thought im gonna get new clips but i ended up just watching a gloried trailer with some new narration. hopefully this isnt the case for ASM!!
finally finished watching it! i love this drama overall but i feel like this drama shouldve been atleast 60 episodes where story goes:
part 1 - jinzhao growing up / her family struggles part 2 - building their romance part 3 - politics part 4 - their married life and life at the chen mansion!
the politics (and war) part was interesting but it was crammed into a few episodes at the end which lessened its impact for me. it wouldve been more engaging if it was paced properly.
they did a good job tugging our hearts with ye xian’s death though. i literally felt my heart breaking during his death scene and the scene where jinzhao reads his letter. i forgot the last time something hurt me this bad
i also love that the main villains fu hailian and wang xuangfan have supportive wives (lol) they actually have a good relationship with their wives which you wouldnt expect if someone’s an evil doer ig
and to that end scene…. i read a comment here that said thats a nod to the fire scene in episode 1 which i think is awesome but we still shouldve gotten moreeeeee after that. i cant believe the ending credits rolled in just like that :(((
anyways it was a happy ending but i feel cheated because i wanted more!!! i wanted to see where the characters would end up in, even just a little glimpse! i wanna see gu lan and mu zhidi.. chen family members.. jinzhao’s grandmother.. qingpu… even qinglan!!! i also wanted to see their kid because i heard they have a kid in the novel…… just a 10 second glimpse per character wouldve been more than enough for us viewers so why oh why!!!
i still loved this drama and would definitely recommend. id still rate it a 10/10.
so onto the next one!!! someone recommend a drama id be obsessed with just like i am obsessed with this one pls :((
guys i just finished that scene in ep39 where GJZ read YX’s letter and ohmygod i didnt expect this to break my heart as much as it did. i already got spoiled by his death and the letter but watching that scene is too much for my weak little heart!!! ye xian!!! 😭😭😭 my heart feels for him huhuhuhu.
havent watched it yet bc i have work so i resorted to reading spoilers on the comments and on twt and ohmygod my hopes and dreams of seeing a well fleshed out happy ending of them with kids is now gone :(((( i wanted a satisfying ending!!!! but whatever ig they gave us a couple of episodes full of sweetness after they got married BUT BUT STILL!!!!! huhuhuhu now i cant wait to finish work and binge!! ugh
