people keep acting like pc was drowning in controversy 24/7 when in reality most viewers were just watching the drama normally. the loudest outrage mainly came from obsessive shippers, right-wing weirdos, and people already looking for a reason to attack pc before it even aired.

Another article talking absolute sense. The backlash against PerfectCrown has completely crossed the line into an excessive witch hunt. The writer completely agrees that the Ep 11 historical slip-ups (the Cheonse and costume mistakes) were jarring, but the extreme demand to ban/trash the entire show is too much.

A mistake in historical accuracy affects the artistic quality of a show, but it shouldn't be treated like a criminal offense that requires wiping a highly successful project from existence. You don't burn down the whole house over a flawed detail.

Perfect Crown was explicitly marketed as an alternate-universe fantasy romance where the Joseon monarchy survived into the modern day. If the public demands 100% strict documentary standards for pure fiction, it will completely paralyze and kill creative imagination in the future.

The writer also noted the cast and crew did everything possible to make it right: IU and Byeon Wooseok gave deep personal apologies, Director Park took full blame and literally cried in his interview, and the scene was cut from all VOD platforms. They gave sufficient apologies—continuing to attack them is just toxic bullying.

IU has been on the Forbes Korea list since 2012, & for 12th time This year. She was ranking #1st in the list…
Gallup Korea is considered one of the most prestigious and respected popularity surveys in Korea because it reflects the general public’s opinion, not just fandom voting or social media hype. Their surveys use professional polling methods and include different age groups across Korea, so ranking high there usually means a celebrity or a drama truly has strong public recognition and influence in Korea.

And now you see why certain K-drama stan Twitter circles and Korean incels online were so desperate to hate them? Even in this comment section, you can frequently see the presence of certain people who supposedly didn’t even like the drama and their presence is even more noticeable than those who actually enjoyed it 😂

Byeon Woo-seok and IU entering The Forbes Korea 2026 Power Celebrity rankings as two of only three actors (the other one is Park Bo-gum) in the Top 20 is such a gag.

Their drama keeps getting dragged into “cancel” agendas, yet that very same series and their roles continue to be recognized by prestigious lists like Gallup and now Forbes. The results are speaking for themselves.

IU donated 8.6 Billion KRW ($5.71 million USD) for her country yet knetz still choose to focus on her flaws rather than her kindness. Korea really don’t deserve someone like IU. They fail to appreciate an artist who has given so much to her country

Today I saw a tweet on Twitter and if it’s actually true, then it’s an absolutely disgusting thing to do.

” My friend in Korea, who works in the aviation industry and is also a fan of the actor (...), said that there were some offers of money if they signed a petition demanding the cancellation of the drama Perfect Crown. They are fans of some of the actors whose dramas aired this year”

It's hard for Perfect Crown fans to let go coz there's no proper closure at all, we're supposed to get from IUtV and Varo the bts of ep 11 and 12, we're supposed to get the behind photos from IU and WooSeok on their Ig, we're supposed to be celebrating the success of the series.🤷‍♀️

I’ve watched many historical K-dramas and actually got curious about Korean history/culture because of them. But Perfect Crown? 😭 It's the least drama I would think about in historical context and somehow 15k are screaming “historical distortion" to THIS extent for it?🤣

Finally, a voice of sanity. Media Today published a brilliant defense of the drama, and it completely exposes the flaws in the "distortion" narrative.

The show is literally titled 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife (大군부인). The male lead is a Grand Prince (son of a KING), not an Imperial Prince. The world-building consistently established a modern surviving Kingdom, not an Empire.

Demanding a 12-string imperial crown for a King makes zero internal sense. The 9-string crown and “Cheonse” are completely consistent within the writer’s fictional timeline. It’s a creative AU choice, not a national crisis. Media Today is spot on: weaponizing ”historical distortion" to cancel art is total overkill. 👑📰

Omg I didn't notice, where? 😡
What American flag? The flag is clearly visible in both the episode and the BTS footage. I even saved pictures of it.
I liked the drama, and I’m not a hater at all. That’s why I felt so disappointed. Honestly, it upset me more than I can even explain.

IU fans coping hard rn lol
You clearly have no idea how huge IU actually is in Korea. Her impact, reputation, and public support are on a completely different level. Do you really think a bunch of loud online haters can seriously damage this drama or IU’s career? If you believe that, then you truly have no idea how influential she is.

On top of that, the actors already handled the situation gracefully by posting apology letters, even though the issue was never entirely their fault to begin with. Most knetz are already satisfied with that. At this point, the people still dragging this issue are mostly haters with political motives.

It’s honestly gotten so exaggerated that now even knetz have started defending the actors 😂

I bet a lot of haters are probably using multiple accounts just to inflate the petition numbers. Still, I hope it won’t cause any major damage.

What’s happening to them right now feels extremely unfair, and this is exactly the time when they deserve even more support from fans. They truly do not deserve this kind of treatment.

It’s honestly frustrating to see how some knetz and haters are reacting so aggressively over a drama but letting the actual rapist and pedophile receive far less outrage and continue roaming freely. The priorities of some people online are genuinely disturbing.

Guys Knets are really going after Perfect Crown. Someone submitted a petition to the National Assembly asking for the drama to be taken down from all OTT and VOD platforms, despite the apologies from the cast and crew.

The petition’s deadline is June 21, and if it garners 50,000 agreements within 30 days, it will be referred to the relevant Standing Committee of the National Assembly. As of now about 15000 people have already signed.

The petitioner said that the drama has clear historical inaccuracies in its directing, which seem to push a specific Northeast Project agenda. They highlighted major issues like distorting national dignity and titles, freely borrowing from foreign cultures, and errors in symbolic national attire.

The petitioner requested, “The Korea Communications Standards Commission and relevant authorities should immediately order the cessation of broadcasts for the drama that has committed serious historical distortions and cultural appropriation,” “To prevent the spread of distorted culture worldwide, please forcibly delete and cancel the program from all domestic and international VOD and OTT platforms where it has already been released,” and

“For broadcasters that damage national identity and cultural sovereignty under the guise of ‘fiction,’ please establish a permanent expulsion system, such as excluding them from future government funding and restricting broadcasting licenses.” Even MBC is in serious trouble.
