Impactful

An excellent drama. Hard to watch for its depth and realism. JCW was at his finest as Park Jun Mo.

I never thought I’d watch this drama twice. All the heavy violence was a lot to carry around in your head for the duration. More than the violence, it was difficult wrapping my head around how the lives of pretty much all the characters were affected by the choices that were made and their consequences over the course of the story. The Prosecutor wanted a win at any cost to Detective Park and his wife. I’m going out on a limb saying he was more antagonist than most people realize. He pushed JunMo too far. Even if she wanted to, he should not have allowed Eui-Joung to go under cover. He never included/consulted with Junmo about her involvement. She should not have been coached to tell Gi-Chuel she was divorced. Certain moral lines should not have to be crossed to get a job done.

There’s so much to say about how this story made me feel. What was so crushing for me was watching how Junmo changed. I feel like he was actually effecting the actions of the gang, actions they may not have taken if he weren’t there. To a large extent he lost his identity. He started pushing GiCheul into making decisions. He turned a blind eye to how certain people were pushed out of the gang. He (in anguish) walked away from a dying man. He started liking Hyran more than he realized. And it showed when they were together. I felt for him - especially when he said he was losing his mind over this operation.

There are some exceptional reviews for the Worst Of Evil. I I have seen 9 of his dramas and I agree with most of the 9.0 -10 star reviews that this is one of Ji Chang Wook’s best performances of his career. He was perfect as Park Jun Mo.
