Lee Jun-seok, member of South Korean National Assembly, Speaks on Restoring Actor Kim Soo-hyun's Honor: "I Hope to Meet Him Again Through His Work" Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok has addressed the controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo-hyun, stating his hope that "Kim Soo-hyun's honor will be fully restored to the point before all of this began and condemned the culture of online harassment, manipulated evidence, Al-synthesized voices, and sensationalized media assaults.
English Translation: "First of all, I offer my deepest condolences for the late Kim Sae-ron. I hesitated to write this because I feared it might cause further misunderstandings surrounding the death of such a young actress. Nevertheless, I decided to say a few words because our society tends to be quick to fuel sensational suspicions while remaining passive when it comes to restoring someone's reputation - and that atmosphere becomes fertile ground for cyber wreckers.
hope actor Kim Soo-hyun's reputation can be restored all the way back to where all of this began. In South Korea, celebrities live under a heavy scale of judgment. We hold them to the strictest standards and burden them with the harshest responsibility. That is the fair price of the influence they possess, and it is also a norm our society has long agreed upon. The problem is that only half of this norm exists. The public square that demands accountability is always crowded, but the place where honor is restored is always silent. The moment suspicion arises, a person's life can collapse in a single day. Yet even after those suspicions are proven false, it takes years to return to what was lost - and in many cases, they never truly return at all. Manipulated messenger screenshots, Al-generated voices, and fabricated "murder-for-
hire" scenarios pieced together from photos anyone could find with a simple search - investigative authorities have confirmed that the very weapons used to destroy a person's private life, career, and dignity were ultimately nothing more than a handful of forgeries. This matter will eventually receive a final legal judgment in court. But by then, advertisements had already been canceled, productions halted, and a person broken. None of those things can simply be restored with a single investigation result. I know the road back to one's rightful place will never be smooth. But I believe that the acting of someone who has risen again after being broken carries a depth that someone who has never fallen could never reach. I look forward to the day when I can see #KimSooHyun, the actor who represents South Korea, in a great works again, and I will always have my applause ready for that day. Once again, I offer my deepest condolences for the late Kim Sae-ron." End quote
KSH’s Attorney, Kho Sang Rock Threads 5/27/2026 post [English translated from Chat GPT]
“While it is expected that Kim Se-ui will be detained, regardless of whether that actually happens, the investigative conclusions have already been reached. The only difference is whether Kim Se-ui will stand trial while in custody or while not detained.
In criminal proceedings, the two parties are the defendant [Kim Se-ui] and the prosecution. The efforts of the victim and complainant [KSH] to uncover the truth are concentrated during the investigation stage, and actor Kim Soo-hyun endured and worked for one year and two months to prove the truth. After that perseverance and effort, the investigative authorities reached their conclusion through investigation, and both the police and prosecution determined that this case is serious enough that indictment [of Kim Se-Ui] under detention is unavoidable.” Words in [ ]s added so you won’t miss who the attorney is referring to. there are plenty more posts in Threads, X, YouTube, and Instagram for people to research and read if they are truly interested in the TRUTH.
did you read that….Kim Soo-hyun endured and worked for one year and two months to prove the truth. What more do the haters want? A pound of flesh too? or are you only interested in defaming a completely innocent man for your own sadistic pleasure??????????
Or you know, other people don't watch dramas for the kissing scenes only. Zero character development, no buildup…
I really enjoyed PC and plan to rate it highly. However, I also believe the criticisms over the story itself are warranted. it could have been much more complete story with more time. to me it was easily a 16 episode drama. But with time constraints put on the production team - by my guess Disney - much was left out and/or left to our imagination. Just a side thought, another possibility that came to me today was this: did the writer deliberately leave past history details out to gain interest in her Prequel PC Royal Academy? nevertheless, there has to be some mathematical wizardry going on when the story has to fit into a certain time frame. adjustments must have to be made to cut out details here, put filler, memory, or flashback scenes there, etc., all to fit into the time allotted. Bon Appetite Your Majesty was 12- 80 minute episodes which is equal to 16- 1 hour episodes. Queen of tears was 16 episodes with around a 23 hour run- time (the last episode was nearly 2 hours). Vincenzo was 20 episodes with well over 24 hours of run time. I’m certain Disney knew they had a winning drama but still held to time or episode constraints. I hope it’s time the OTTs owe the viewers an explanation for the decisions they make. the mishandling of historical facts in ep 11 was most unfortunate and only the truly responsible parties should be held accountable to the people who truly care about Korea’s rich and amazing history.I’m wondering if there is a deliberate attempt by multiple parties to take this mistake and create chaos among viewers. after seeing the plethora of posts across the many different platforms, it’s beginning to look like that. it’s almost like people are being lead around by the nose attacking or defending the issue while the puppet masters are rolling over with laughter.
omg those cheap as hell clip-ons I wanted to cry (please don't come for me loved the drama love IU)
loved PC also. But what if IU was saying - “hey girls, look it’s okay to wear temporary nails. polish can be hard on certain people’s nails. if that’s you, and you want that look, go for it with temporary nails.” she said in an interview she tightened up her skin care routine because of her sensitive skin. Just a thought. 😊
With 12 episode lengths they could’ve done less filler scenes with stares. In the last episode they had 10 sec…
this is a mystery for sure - the lines were there, just say them! if you don’t do a truly informative flashback, just explain reasons in important scenes. I did like the suspense they built by withholding some details, but eventually we needed more information sometimes. Disney knew they had a winner with PC but sacrificed a top notch Romantic dramady bc this was definitely a minimum 14 episode drama. 16 episodes would have been even better - even if they added fillers in some places. I’m still going to rate this drama a 10 and will explain my reasons in my own updated review. even a 10 rating can offer constructive criticisms.
Your critique is well stated - I do believe some (not all) of your points can be explained by the short, 12 episode length. that in itself I feel has stunted the overall depth and completeness of the story.
I guess you have not been in touch with the Korean audience's reviews each week. Please go to Korean websites…
it’s unfortunate PC is 12 episodes. I don’t fault the scriptwriter. I fault the OTT (Disney). I’m certain it was written at a length more like the traditional 16 episodes. I am a foreign viewer and am well aware this drama has a western appeal. I also know it is shown to Korean viewers first. you could be specific about what’s actually wrong with the script ( re: Korean history, etc.) and offer suggestions.
it just kept getting better and better after you dropped it. just sayin’. if you didn’t like IU or BWS, the other actors were great. the suspense has had its intended effect all over social media. maybe you might give it another try later.
your review had no substance. if you are interested in offering true constructive criticism, be specific about the issue and offer suggestions for how it could be better.
just so you know Perfect Crown is an award winning script by a first time screenwriter - look it up. Smart people saw a great script. Disney and MBC saw a great script.
the depth of the layers in the story are for those who are interested in finding them. I just read an excellent analysis of the chess game between PM and GP I-An. also read about the reverse mirroring of HJ and I-An. and another post about the many parallels in the drama - ie., I-An rejected HJ’s proposal 3 times before he accepted and will refuse LK’s abdication 3 times before he accepts. there are others. if you didn’t find any of PC funny, then you were watching a different drama. PPL is a fact, it helps pay for the production, duh! I-An with his Mercedes on the top of the parking garage at night was spectacular. I hope Mercedes runs that as a separate ad after PC is finished airing. it is a great ad. I don’t understand why some find PPLs offensive. I’m more offended when they try to cover labels up in dramas. As an American, I find it endearing to see Subway and 7-11’s in K-dramas. The coffee squares (name escapes me) add to the cultural side of K-dramas.
I agree with Big_Red_1011, Kyleciatong’s is a dishonest review- probably to drive the rating down.
the internet is full of people invested in the plot itself. many have dissected the story uncovering its many layers, mirroring, and parallels. I was shocked myself at the serious level of interest - yes some over BWS’ looks but just as many who are actually discussing the the characters, motives, plots, and especially the guessing of who the true villains are.
do you really think 1 is a fair overall rating? do you think Disney would invest so much money in a drama with IU in it along with a stellar cast of actors that would get such a low rating? IU alone makes PC a prestige/ tentpole K-drama for Disney. and it’s working for them.
the music itself is very very good - if you’re a true K-Drama watcher a 1 rating here is dishonest. if you didn’t like IU’s or BWS’ acting, the rest of the cast were great - ESPECIALLY the PM, Queen Mother and Aide Choi. a 1 rating is insulting to those who were outstanding. this is the screenwriters first screen play - and she won the grand prize for it in 2022. in other words, smart people knew a good script when they read it. I suppose if you could do 1000% better then a 1 rating is fair. otherwise you are just totally disingenuous with your review.
First…, get over yourself. it’s a RomCom in an alternate S. Korea. the production team didn’t have to ask for your permission to make this drama. why be so insulting? your review is unintelligent and doesn’t do anything to add to true constructive criticism. Good looks can only carry any Drama or Series so far- if all PC was about was good looks, it would not be as popular as it is. you should check the internet for all the people who are invested in the plot itself.
I feel if a viewer doesn’t finish a drama - especially only getting through 2 or 3 episodes, it’s not fair to rate it here bc that’s not enough time to see story or character development. take the comments to the discussions tab. I think ratings are to be given by people who actually finish watching….IMO.
this is a minimum 14 episode drama - it could even be 16 to give us a full, well rounded story. I wouldn’t blame the writing - I think it’s the restrictions placed upon the production team by the OTT. that’s a whole other issue which I hope K-drama land addresses with OTTs. 12 and 8 episode dramas seem to be damaging the quality of many K-Dramas.

very helpful article regarding the issues with historical accuracy. hope it helps with everyone’s understanding. let’s heal from this.
