Thank you for those suggestions. I started Confidence Queen but put it on hold for awhile. I’ll get back to it. My sister loved all 3 seasons of Taxi Driver. I am a big fan of Lee Je Hoon.

Will 10 episodes be enough to tell this story well?

Excellent casting of Yoo Hae Jin and Park Hae Il. Lee Min Ho is 39 and for all his good looks, he does not pass the appearance of a young, inexperienced reporter test. He has a natural commanding presence on screen which could play against him here. This is a true-story adaptation. Is it fair to cast him as a ‘rookie.’? IMO, this is a feature film and could be criticized for this point. A 35-40 year-old reporter should be seasoned, not a rookie.

I don’t dislike LMH but I think it could be a miscast because viewer perception is that we should be looking at a much younger person who is still navigation his role and corruption in national-scale politics in this role. There are some great 24-29 year old actors who could do justice to a rookie journalist role like Choo-young Woo, Lee Chae Min, and Ryeon to name three, but there are
more.

Try getting through Episode 3. It gets better from there. See…, someone is suggesting this to you 10 months later. Maybe that’s a sign🤓

Agreed. I haven’t seen all her dramas yet but IMO so far, her best co-star chemistry was in Healer and WWWSK. A close second would be with Kim Jae Uck in Her Private Life.

I heard she had plastic surgery sometime after that which did change her look. She’s beautiful and elegant but I liked her earlier look a little better.

She eventually connects them.

I think the music issue was more of a complaint for the a lot of dramas in that time-period.

I have to take several things into account when watching dated KDramas and sometimes the music is one of them. Another is the cinematography, camera angles, colorization, etc., Then there’s the settings. Sometimes (thinking of The Master’s Sun) the sets look just like sets - for daytime soap operas (for US watchers). I do my best to change the mode setting on my TV to get it to look like it’s a film and not a stage play.

Bottom line, the stories and the acting have to stand out for me because some dramas have great stories and acting but were produced with low budgets.

Healer had a great story/acting/cinematography/etc. The music didn’t bug me too much but I recognize it was an issue. As
for the OST, Eternal Love by Michael Learns to Rock is the biggest standout and is on my playlist.

I can’t excuse bad editing, though. Great dramas and films are made in the editing room in any country.

I first watched it 18 months ago and watched twice since then.

For all its pluses and minuses (of which I couldn’t find any), it’s a well executed, light and endearing drama. 12 years later people love it for the first time Others find time to rewatch it for the nostalgia - the story, how they originally connected with the MLs, the music, etc., and it’s nostalgia. It’s like listening to one of your favorite songs from your younger days - it might be dated to someone else, but it holds a special place in your heart (for any number of reasons). For me, it’s a perfect 10.

Loved Vagabond. I was hooked the whole time. but where Season 2?

I’ve only watch 8 JCW dramas. The K2 was my second JCW drama and I really, really liked him in that one. I thought his Chemistry with Song Yeon Ah (villainess) was even better than with Lim Yoon A (not bad chemistry w/ LYA but that’s my opinion). The Worst of Evil was gritty. He was excellent in that one along with his Bromance with Wi Ha Joon. I can’t do it. I can’t watch 58 episodes of Empress Ki, but my sister said he was excellent in that one too. Maybe I’ll watch on ff.

If you have watched a lot of PMW dramas, maybe you’ll agree with me that this is her most uniquely played role. I also loved her in WWWSK but I think she outdid herself as Chae Yeong Sin.

I can relate. I’ve only been watching KDramas for about 18-19 months but I’ve already watched Healer 3 times. I came to MDL today to look up Healer to see where it’s streaming, because I’m thinking of watching it again soon, and saw your post. It’s such an enjoyable watch. I wouldn’t change anything about the drama itself. The only thing I’ll say is I would have liked more screen time with mother and daughter (trying not to give anything away).
It’s my favorite drama for both leads - and for PMY, I LOVED What’s wrong with Secretary Kim.
Excellent chemistry between JCW and PMY. And I think Yoo Ji Tae was perfectly cast as Kim Mun Ho. When I suggest people watch it I say it’s a love story between three people but it’s not a love-triangle.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this story is executed in a totally non-Korean setting. Read where the actresses were excited to wear the clothes/costumes.

This is the first 16 episode drama I watched in one sitting. I enjoyed it that much. But was it a romance or friendship, though? Maybe a Fromance. How’s that? I’ve seen a total of 5 Fromances recently. Black (not billed as a romance but had all the leanings, plus he did sort of brush his lips against hers in a fall); My Troublesome Star; When a man Falls in Love; and The Great Show. Same ML in all 4 of these. With the exception of Black, the there was not one kiss yet they are listed as Romances along with other genres. I pretty much left American TV for the gratituitous (sp) skin and sex. But a kiss (just one, and it doesn’t even have to be super long and sloppy) at some point is normal for a romance’s development. Without that it seems like a platonic relationship.
