1/2 way through ep 6. Yes, Youjin has control issues. One could write a book about her. She’s definitely a red flag. But what is with Sejin????

On Where the Mask Ends • 22 hours ago
FYI from Grok (AI)
Episodes 15–30 of Where the Mask Ends are not on Netflix yet because the series is still airing on a daily release schedule; they have not been released.
The drama (original title Jia Jin Chai / 嫁金钗) is a 30-episode streaming version on Youku and Netflix (there is also a longer 33-episode CCTV-8 TV edit with shorter runtimes). It premiered on October 16, 2026, with Episodes 1–4, then has followed a pattern of roughly two episodes per day. As of October 20, 2026, confirmed/available Netflix dates go only through Episode 14 (Episodes 13–14 scheduled for October 21). Netflix has not yet displayed a full future calendar in its catalog beyond what has already aired or been confirmed, which is common for ongoing daily Chinese drama releases.
kisskh and similar trackers list projected dates based on the ongoing daily pattern (these are not official Netflix confirmations and can shift):
• Episodes 15–16: October 22
• Episodes 17–18: October 23
• Episodes 19–20: October 24
• Episodes 21–22: October 25
• Episodes 23–24: October 26
• Episodes 25–26: October 27
• Episodes 27–28: October 28
• Episodes 29–30: October 29
Netflix is carrying the same 30-episode streaming cut as Youku and has generally been releasing episodes on or very close to the same schedule in supported regions. Availability and exact drop times can vary slightly by country; check your local Netflix app for the latest confirmed dates, as new episodes appear once released.
In short, the later episodes simply have not aired yet—they are coming on the remaining daily release days through late October.

MDL says there are 30 - 45 min episodes. Netflix stops at 14. YOUKU at 6:40 pm CST (USA) shows 10 eps with trailer for ep 11. 14 is short for a C-Drama. Does anybody know if this truly ends at ep 14?

can anyone guide me through the parents guide? I want to watch it with my family but I can’t if there’s any…
It’s a rough watch - a very mature drama without any explicit content. Probably a bit much for the under 13-14 age group.

A review isn't a mandatory checklist of acting, cinematography, production values, and music. My criticism focuses…
@herc-u-luis I truly appreciate your very thoughtful and complete response. In my initial post to you, I was going to mention more specifically that posting 9/10 star reviews is also unfair to put in the review section after 2 episodes for many of your same reasons but deleted that part as I was just trying to make my point to your rating respectful and brief. And your comment about that high and low ratings tend to balance each other out is probably the case.

Ratings themselves are pretty arbitrary. The reviews I appreciate are those that sufficiently and fairly explain the score. After reading some of them, I find myself re-evaluating some of my ratings to see if I assessed the same drama fairly - even if I gave a different score. But I digress….

Perhaps the Review section should be made unavailable until after the last episode forcing people to utilize the comments section until then. I believe this suggestion has merit. Viewers can and do use the ‘status’ (for lack of a better word) button in the details page, under the Poster to choose Currently Watching, On Hold, Dropped, Completed, Etc. Viewers already use this option to rate their dramas with minimal comments. MDL could push the interim rating system to this section since relatively few actually end up righting a formal review once they have finished.

MDL is a pretty good site for researching all-things-Asian Dramas. I’ve been using it for a long time to find out what’s out there to watch, using those well written reviews as a guide. I only recently started using it to keep track of what I have watched and to remind me of what I’d like to watch. (This might have turned into a negative habit since it seems I watch more of them than is in my best interest.)

MDL could be an even better, slicker site, though. From what I’ve read from other posters, they are not very responsive to their users when it comes to suggestions. To be fair to them since I know nothing about MDL as an organization, delays in responding to user’s suggestions for improvements could be due to IT/Developer costs or capabilities.

Nevertheless, your reply is much appreciated.

The lazy, arrogant, prideful, and poorly trained work alongside and freeload off the kind, thoughtful, and skilled everywhere in any profession, not just in Korea….., even at the car wash.

Rating a drama either way after dropping it at 2 episodes is not fair to the rating system. Your comments are fair and should be made. But having only seen 2 episodes these comments aren’t a review of the whole drama and should be placed in the comment section not the review section. for all we know Dr Gye could be severely reprimanded in future episodes for her sanctimonious, self righteous antics - maybe she will reflect on herself and change for the good. or maybe not. we don’t know yet.

Up to Ep 4 - It’s not new or original but there is something cute about this story and the MLs, so far. They play off each other pretty well. Not impressed with the family. Some parts are unrealistic for this era of drama making (that’s on the writer and director), but it’s a light RomCom and can be overlooked for the core story. Bo Bae’s character has some similar traits to Yeo Reum in Where Stars Land.

Chae Soo Bin is delightful to watch. This is my first drama watching Kim Young Kwan. He’s good here. I’d like to see him in other genres to get a real feel for his acting chops.

I don’t see where your comments about the story itself justify such a low rating. In fact the same exact wording could be used to give the story an 10-star rating. Everything you said is true. The story of young King Dan Jong is most definitely heavy and how he was treated is deeply troubling. The history of the Josean Monarchy was all that and more. Like other countries, Josean had good and bad kings.
This is a true story. Overthrowing a rightful king and exiling him fully expecting him to die an early death was unethical then and would be unethical now. But that’s what happened. He would have died early, as planned, and not found true meaning to his life had it not been for the Chief and the villagers.
What about this story was frustratingly manipulative? Was the writer manipulating the viewer?
It seems you left out details to support your position.
How would you have written/directed it so this the story was better???

You might want to watch this film again. I think you misinterpreted Warden Heung Do’s actions. He was NOT a traitor to King Dan Jong. In fact he was the exact opposite. First, the warden was put in a no-win situation and had to choose his son’s life over the king’s. The king fully understood that decision, it is why he continued to leave the magistrate’s compound. Second, in front of Myeong Hoe, KDJ quickly grabbed the warden’s collar screening at him, accusing him of being a traitor to him in order to SAVE the villager’s as well as the warden’s lives. It’s what a true king of the people would do. Third, WHD, in absolute anguish, carried out KDJ’s last request to end his life his way, not at the hands of the executioners.
The love between Heung Do and Dan Jong was mutual, beautiful, and full of trust. How could it be interpreted any other way?

Title Four Hands, Two Sonatas Spoiler
Talk about pushing someone to making an extreme choice!!! I thought that just before the last scene in Ep 4.
Interesting thought that they are blood related. That would be a super interesting plot twist - and if so, it’s probably Teacher Do. Seems most logical at this point.
I doubt it’s that Jeong Yo’s ‘father’ can’t stand the sight of him. His pushing him away to protect him. But another reason to give up on life.

Both boys are between a rock and a hard place for different reasons. My heart goes out to both of them. They both want what every child / adolescent needs - acceptance, love, and nurturing from those that supposedly love them. The lack of these critical needs is why so many young people make wrong, life-altering decisions.

So far, the driver in this story is Pi-O’s mother. Not even the narcissistic, beyond self-absorbed with his very breath. grandfather. She doesn’t have it in her to accept defeat of any kind.

Let’s see what next week brings.
