The lighting and directing too. The settings look fake and is ruining my immersion. Doesn't give that old era republican vibes at all. The plot is cliche and scenes aren't landing hard enough to overlook everything else. The leads deserved better than this.

Because he's not interested. He has always chosen a low profile, highly independent career path. He picks scripts with strong psychological depth over generic, mainstream romantic leads. He also values artistic quality over billing order. If you track the characters he plays, you can see a pattern. He likes complex and often anti hero type roles that steals the spotlight from the leads.
