the synopsis says he was born in a humble family so they'd better not be lying lmao plus the way he carries himself,…
yes i love the way he uses his body language to act. like in ep7 when the token guy kneeled in gratitude, zhao ling had a very quick near automatic movement where he put his arms down and turned to the side which showed he either can't handle or isnt used to seeing someone formally kneeling to him for a reason like this. there are many such little moments i loved watching.

i wanted to straighten him out on a table several times dhdhjs i had a friend with a slightly hunched posture and i used to feel the same urge with them lmao
Meeting the CP was coincidence but it was entirely intentional when she followed them. 🤭
exactly. surely many people encountered the crown prince's entourage, they arent invisible. but they probably just figured he's some rich noble. fl was the one making connections seeing the jade that he must be the prince and ml recognized their weapons and figured the group isn't ordinary. it would have been a regular encounter if she didn't take the steps she did to get their attention. she wouldn't have gotten that maid without risking themselves to save her either. cause and effects.
Realistically, because he can read and write and knows martial arts.I’m all for having a “man from the people”…
this. all of those salt traders probably know how to read and write and do basic calculations, they need to measure profits and do business dealings, plus verbal communication isn't always possible in illegal business, being able to send a note makes things convenient. otherwise how would they read and memorize the salt ballad? how would they recognize whats written on the token is jiuweijiao and not something random? as for calligraphy, you can practice by copying the strokes if you have a good reference point like the crown princes.
What I like about the story is that Zhao Ling is refreshingly ordinary. An actual commoner, not a general, nobleman…
the synopsis says he was born in a humble family so they'd better not be lying lmao plus the way he carries himself, his hunched posture, head always slightly down and stealing glances or staring from that angle, keeping it easy to whisper or hide his expression when needed, instead of being straight backed, chin up, forward facing and confident. it really makes him look like a thug who spent rough decades doing illegal business and always being aware of his surroundings, getting used to watching out for authorities or enemy traders.
Zhao Ling is no pushover. He could escape at the end of ep 6 but he chose to stay. It's not like he had no other…
yes definitely, plus her actions in the nunnery was so humane like idk how to word it well, he was watching her asking for his help of all people, desperate to live by any means necessary and eating rotten gurb to throw up, must have been so remiscient of scenes he has seen so many times throughout his commoner life of hardships among desperate and dying people. it was such a powerful connecting scene coz before this she was a noble lady comparable to a perfect flower untouched by filth, toiling and betrayal. wow why is this getting so long after just one point, lets just say i agree lmao

its weird people think he has no choice anywhere when he has been choosing since the beginning. if he truly didnt want it or like it he'd have walked away. he feels bad for her and promised her mom to escort her and felt a sense of responsibility towards her the way he felt about his men and apprentice. but unlike them the fml is assertive and has goals and opinions of herself and doesnt hesitate to speak them out and trust him with it, it creates a deeper bond when you entrust someone with your vulnerability and take actions instead of just following along.
he's helping her because he wants to help her and finds her reasonable, her logic is irrefutable. you can see it in his expression that he truly feels what happened to her is unfair and unjust and that she deserves better. plus they already went through a lot of hurdles together and she has never once left his side or latched onto the next strongest man. she fought for him and trusted him and wishes he'd do the same and that's what he is doing. they are choosing to support each other 'despite' the inconvenience not 'bcoz' of it, and its mutual. it wouldnt have worked if both of them werent good people who cared about others wellbeing in addition to their own.
