Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
people denying their bond even after watching the scene where he drinks the "poison" for her in jail is…
exactlyy,,,, the ost🔥🔥, the acting, the dialogues, the whole atmosphere, it was so intense and sublime, my jaw dropped. i was so not expecting such peak fire forged romance moment from them at this late point in the story but it truly did justice to their journey, conflicts, situation and the kinda couple they were.

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler

righhhttt??? all she truly was seeing in that moment was her zhao ling and its such a nice parallel to ep3 when she was first force fed the poison. it felt like all their history got condensed in that moment and she looked at him like all was worth it if she could set him free from not just this prison but also this messed up life he got tangled up into and if he could just be happy again the way he was before😭and in a beautiful parallel zhao ling was looking at her and thinking of the same history, abt the girl who had sought a strangers help, how she had tried so desperately to live, now smiling and looking at him with so much love, waiting to drink the poison from his hands so that HE could live, it was such a full circle moment AAAAAAAA NO ONE DOES IT LIKE THEM. they make me so insane, its not even funny😭😭

yeaaaah like you could truly feel how deeply and truly she had fallen for him. and mind you this was a girl who didnt even know what love was once nor think it was necessary for a good marriage, she thought mutual benefit and support is all that is. the progression from her look of disbelief when told what they are here for, the eyes welling up with tears, the laugh and acceptance when zhao ling talked about their journey and how he was fortunate to meet her and then she was all ready and basically CONFESSED EVERYTHING BRUH like all of it, love, acceptance, regret, gratitude, forgiveness, so many things in that one sentence and smile at THAT moment, after everything, sitting all ready to drink the poison, no questions asked, there cant possibly be any deeper proof of her feelings and their bond than this. what a SCENE i was in tears😭😭

yeees the poison scene was so peak romance to me honestly. it should put an end to all doubts. tingyun literally said 'in this life i was fortunate to have met you' AFTER she thought she was being fed poison for him. like,,,,ooomggg you gotta be kidding me i loved loved LOVEDD their expressions there, the whole scene was so fine, someone here was telling they got chills at tingyun's scream when zl turned around and drank the poison and i agree 💯

hiiiiii welcome!! yeaah ikr, ep1 was such a banger, throwing their strongest hook at the very beginning with ep1 was a great strategy. usually the family deaths and pre story tragedies get limited flashbacks or brushed off to quickly move into the main story but here they hired good actresses from small to old and focused on each of them departing one by one. both visually, emotionally and acting wise it was very impactful. fl's mother was superb, the daughter exchange scene was incredible.

Jingi wasn't there for six years, so maybe Grandpa had to do everything himself. But now that Jingi is there,…
i feel almost sorry for grandpa, just almost. must have been tough all these years being surrounded by all these incompetent useless ppl, he seems to give more agency to the ones who have a functioning brain and some guts. he doesnt seem to be stopping them from making their own decisions if the decisions were reasonable and made sense.

i know why they turned away from shens. the comment was just an annoyed sarcasm for their terrible daughter in law candidates, the only decent one they had was broken off.

the lins broke off marriage with shens coz they were determined to get a idiotic vengeful messed up weirdo as their daughter in law -_- like ok i get making a mistake once, but how do you do that repeatedly. how is this family even existing being that useless. imagine lanxiang wasnt there, how many times would they have been ruined by now.

Above all I see plenty of reasons, like master/servant dynamic and huge class divide, why she would never entertain…
yea the power imbalance would always be there at the back of her mind
