Liked it, but didn't loooove it
I would say the general storyline was pretty strong, with a good attempt at enmeshing different lives and love stories together. Yet, the plot felt really dragged out at the most inconsequential areas -- especially with all the fluffy scenes, while not satisfactorily tying up the stories of the supporting characters who had promising stories ahead of them -- particularly the dad and mom characters, Mr James, and the rest of the serving staff.
The acting was also quite inconsistent, especially with Yai. His expressions are sometimes so underwhelming and don't match the emotional scenes, especially when Jom is more involved in it. This was a real bummer because he is really cute and handsome :(
The production quality is also slightly questionable, because audio quality of the same speaker would differ with different camera angles in an unrealistic manner.
The ending is quite confusing, especially when you look at it from both episode 12 and 12.5. The only logical explanation I got from this was that the Yai that Jom saw in the house at the end of episode 12, is just a memory, whereas in 12.5, Yai from 1920's was brought over to him in physical form.
But the way episode 12 portrayed it made it seem like Yai was a dude from the current period, which would corroborate with what has been written in the novel as I gathered from my reddit searches. But episode 12.5 directly nullifies that theory. So the previously mentioned logical explanation has to stand, though its highly unconvincing and begs the question as to whether 12.5 had to be filmed.
But overall still enjoyed it! Though I preferred Love in the Moonlight more for how much more convincingly it could weave a love story into a backdrop of external turmoil and conflict.
