had so much potential
Ugh where do I begin... I had fun watching it, but only because I just skipped through so many scenes cos they were really draggy towards the end.Thup's acting is atrocious, and the fact that this is his third production and he is struggling really says a lot. Idk if he is just weirded out by being paired with another guy or what but he rlly has gotta do better. Singha was doing most of the heavy lifting on the chemistry. Even tho I felt that some dialogues would just end with Singha saying an awkward "ok...", I feel that Singha delivers it rather well, so I just hope by some form of weird osmosis, Thup's acting develops in his next projects, if there are any.
With characterization, ultimately, the damsel in distress trope gets played out wayyyy too much for my liking, and coupled with Thup's lack of acting skills, it is just formulaic and dry. I much preferred the side couple's chemistry as low-stakes as it was, and even to some extent, King's intrusion into the case.
I think the story itself was mediocre at best. It was very obvious who the main villain was going to be, and while the side villain took me by surprise, it really couldn't make up for such an anticlimatic ending.
Ig these types of shows are really only ok if you go in wanting a pure, full on love story and not much else, because unlike Khemjira, there wasn't much to the spookiness elements of this series either. Overall this was really bad, and the good cinematography, Singha's acting, and some type of allusion to Thao Wessuwan's light, is what saved some part of this show for me.

Super Romantic!!!
First time watching a JimmySea BL, and icl these two have realllly good chemistry; and I loved that this couple had so much banter about them all the time! I have really become a fan of Jimmy, beyond just his looks, but also how emotive he can be -- especially in portraying a fun lover. As for the plot, honestly speaking, it was pretty predictable -- there was no twist at all, but this BL makes it very clear that romance is the first priority, so even though the love scenes and conversations seemed draggy, at times borderline cringeworthy, it was still a delectable watch.

Liked it, but didn't loooove it
I would say the general storyline was pretty strong, with a good attempt at enmeshing different lives and love stories together. Yet, the plot felt really dragged out at the most inconsequential areas -- especially with all the fluffy scenes, while not satisfactorily tying up the stories of the supporting characters who had promising stories ahead of them -- particularly the dad and mom characters, Mr James, and the rest of the serving staff. The acting was also quite inconsistent, especially with Yai. His expressions are sometimes so underwhelming and don't match the emotional scenes, especially when Jom is more involved in it. This was a real bummer because he is really cute and handsome :(
The production quality is also slightly questionable, because audio quality of the same speaker would differ with different camera angles in an unrealistic manner.
The ending is quite confusing, especially when you look at it from both episode 12 and 12.5. The only logical explanation I got from this was that the Yai that Jom saw in the house at the end of episode 12, is just a memory, whereas in 12.5, Yai from 1920's was brought over to him in physical form.
But the way episode 12 portrayed it made it seem like Yai was a dude from the current period, which would corroborate with what has been written in the novel as I gathered from my reddit searches. But episode 12.5 directly nullifies that theory. So the previously mentioned logical explanation has to stand, though its highly unconvincing and begs the question as to whether 12.5 had to be filmed.
But overall still enjoyed it! Though I preferred Love in the Moonlight more for how much more convincingly it could weave a love story into a backdrop of external turmoil and conflict.

LOVED IT
The perfect mix of humor, horror, brotherhood, kinship, and last but not least, romance. I went into this thinking it would be yet another normal series, with a pretentious storyline to just tell a romantic story, but there was a really good balance. The characters are self-aware, dignified and realistic; the stories made me swoon as much as it made me cry sometimes. Of course, till the end I was unable to get the answer to the question of how the Master was finally able to break the promise he made to his Grandfather, and points were docked for that, but otherwise... outstandingly done! The love between different lives trope was not overwhelming, and the characters' internal conflicts as to how they feel in their current lives were so refreshing, compared to other dramas with this trope. PLEASE DO WATCH THIS!!!Was this review helpful to you?
