Also I don't think I've said this yet but I'm in awe of WJYs portrayal of JL, she brings you into the character and makes you feel all her emotions alongside.

I also love how fiercely loyal and bold she is, and she's not afraid to get blood on her hands, I especially love how she dealt with that slime magistrate, enough of these kumbaya heroes, I want my heroes bloody

Plus how she's aware she can't do it all on her own, she holds down the forte pretty well till XH comes lending a hand

Plus I love her interactions with Liu Xu and Jiang Jing Rui, you get to see her playful and less tense, it humanizes her so she's not like this mechanical revenge seeking robot

Her holding her own in the court today was just exceptional, she's the mature, well rounded FL you hardly ever see in CDramas

I hope there can be more shows like these

IKR, this is a role not so easily pulled off, I was watching BIA along with this to tide me over as I wait for new episodes, by E26, I was already fed up with the ML, it's meant to be a similar role but he just didn't have the charisma to pull it off , he had only one expression throughout the drama and they had to use so much bgm to make him look good,

This kind of role isn't about height or being stone faced, it's about talent and WXY has got it

Also can I just say how fickle JLs dad's "love" for her is, he's only concerned when her actions are helping him take down the Li clan, didn't even want to see her till he heard how beneficial it'd be for him in the court. Such a wuss of a dad

Arrgh I love the Ye family, such a genuinely loving bunch. the real JL would have had such a good life if she had grown with them instead.

Seeing XFFs dad even in his broken state rejecting SYR as the scum that he is was priceless, kudos to the writers for that extra bit

The scene with litte XH beating the drum in the cell with snow falling all around was so poignant. I love how this drama evokes emotions with symbolisms beyond the actors or dialogues

When XH was leaving and asked her if she had nothing to say to him, you could see the longing in their eyes, my God, I LOOVEEEE the way they flirt, they know they're hot for each other and have one of the best dialogues of a cdrama couple

I love the symbolism of him always watching her from above, even as XFF, he's always watching her with that smoldering look in his eyes, it's hot tbh 🔥 🤭

XH's look of utter disgust when SYR was called up killed me, he looked like he wanted to give him a taste of his fan 🤣🤣

Can I just say again how deeply impressed I am with WXY as XH, he's not just the cardboard aloof guy, he's imposing even when he isn't saying anything.

Also his warning to her to keep her emotions in check was such a good touch to add, anyone could practically see her falling apart since Huaixiang, that's why he deliberately made the comment about her dad. I love how he pushes her and his little smirks when his "pawn" impresses him.
