Can I just say Haitang DuoDuo is super beautiful this season π
Also has anyone noticed how she looks at FX when they interact, she has a thing for him, she just tries to hide it when people tease her but she soooo does π€£
Just finished the last episode and the sense of loss hit me hard. What a truly mind blowing end to this season. I don't think there are up to 3 Cdramas that had successful sequels that have the same level of quality and story telling. I can categorically say JOL is one.
I understand why some are nitpicking and looking for faults that don't exist, this is literally the diamond of the season, the more we the fans gush about it, the more they wanna tear it apart, holding this masterpiece to such high standards but literally turning a blind eye to all the trash dramas being rolled out every week in cdramalandπ
I understand we can't all have the same tastes, but the 2 seasons shouldn't be compared as they're intrinsically different, if Fan Xian had continued the same journey of season 1, the same critics complaining season 2 is boring will be the very ones saying how stale the story has become. Most people don't even understand the premise of this show tbh, this isn't one of those shows where everything is explicitly revealed, even an eye twitch alone here can mean the admission or rebuttal of a fact.
The depth and writing of the characters is unlike any show out there. No one is a plain bad or good character, we all know the emperor is a sadistic megalomaniac, but damn I have such a deep admiration of him, he has such presence and charisma I'm yet to see in ANY emperor, when I watch dramas with the dumbest emperors being led around by their consorts, i roll my eyes and ask why can't they be like HIM comeon! Even the scene he revealed himself as FXs dad had me teary.
I'm so proud of FXs growth this season, every character was meaningful, every episode was interesting with zero fillers and I'll miss everyone, even He Zong Wei, lol
Season 1 : 10/10 Season 2: 10/10 Season 3: 10/10 in advance heheπ
See you JOL heads in 5 years time with my 5 kids and two grandchildren π€£
Can I just say JOL is one of the best productions to EVER come out of China. This is one phenomenal drama, the season 2 is just as , if not more enjoyable , than season 1. Words can't describe how much I enjoy this series, every single character has a purpose that fits into the bigger story like puzzle pieces, there's been a barage of below par cdrama productions that this just feels like a breath of long overdue fresh air.
I might have a complete rewatch of season 1 just to fill the void or just jump right into the novel because it's gonna be a long drought after this till something good comes along again in Cdrama land
Iβm on episode 11 and constantly frustrated at the FLβs aversion of any sense of intimacy. Especially after…
A worthy mention of this trope done right is Hidden Love. That is the ONLY drama that gets the full romance + no angst trope 10/10, trust me i tried YAMG, LMLMV and others, Hidden Love knocks them all out of the park, if you haven't seen it please do
Sang Zhi & Jia Xu' s connection, chemistry, is what I hoped to get here but didn't, I can't even explain what makes it so fantastic maybe the writing, the story or just LuSi & CZY masterful interpretation of their roles but it's everything AASOL isn't.

Trust me I'm the number 1 advocate for chastity but she could have done a better job with chemistry, jeez, Wu Lei was literally a volcano of raw emotions emitting need with every touch & look but she just always lay there waiting for him to make a move she could immediately shut down. It got old real quick for me and then graduated to annoyance, lol might not watch anything from her anytime soon
TLOSL is a great example, they were chaste till the tail end of the drama but my God, that heat and chemistry could burn through the screen, being comfortable with each other's touch plays a vital role in building chemistry fr.
I'm just back to say I'm experiencing INTENSE TLOSL withdrawal, SEND HELP Y'ALL!! β οΈ
Seriously, when last I felt this way was after SOKP, LYF, MLC, L&P and a couple other of my faves. This is definitely going into Chinese Dramas Hall of Fame for me, and might I add I sincerely adore ZLY, she's so wholesome to watch, really amazing at her job, next time I see any brainless slander against her on MDL I'm blocking that user fr. Plus LGX is so mega hot, i was one of the few that loved him in PA way more than the 2ml, can't wait to see him in some great productions again.
This drama is perfection, everything is so well done, I think when next I'll see something this good this year will be LYF2.
Is it just me who has found it IMPOSSIBLE to complete ANY of Zhou Ye's dramas? She's exceptionally beautiful but I feel like there's something deficient in her acting that I just can't put my hands on. I tried really hard to enjoy Back from the brink but the story & the emotionless acting from her & Neo was a letdown. She could hardly cry in the scenes that were supposed to be emotionally charged, despite that I pushed through to the end which I REGRETTED btw.
Scent of Time sent me to sleep so many times I just knew I could not waste my time anymore, despite loving SOKP that had a similar story (Bai Lu killed it btw π₯).
I only enjoyed her in WOH because the story was that good plus GJ killing his role as WKX.
I really tried to like this for my Tan Gege but this just wasn't doing it for me. Stuck around till Episode 10 but I nearly cried out of boredom, recently tried picking it up again but nope, couldn't get past 3 episodes. Sad to pull the plug on this one.
Considering how much I LOVED the first half of this show, something seemed to shift post episode 19/20, I had to pause it to see if I'll love it when I get back again, alas, it got worse and even unbearable /unwatchable. Believe me I love Wu Lei, but something about their romance was just lacking as I found myself beginning to FF scenes (even with them together) π¬.
Maybe it was the FLs continued aversion to his touch that made it awkward or maybe I got spoiled from finishing TLOSL before getting back into this, it felt like watching paint dry. He was putting in waaayy too much work emotionally and she just felt like a brick wall most times that even when some intimacy was hinted at Episode 23 it fell so flat I literally rolled my eyes π. Even the tournament scenes I enjoyed in the beginning became annoying and I ended up skipping alot.
I'll say something switched from the 1st half that didn't get quite right in the 2nd.
Initially had this rated 10 but I'm bumping it down to 7, ONLY because of Wu Lei's sizzling hot charisma & smoldering gazes π₯π
One of the fastest & easiest 10/10 I ever gve a Xianxia or even CDrama, EVERYTHING is PERFECT π
The casting: absolutely adore ML & FL, XingZhi isn't just handsome, I think he ascended beyond that, he's like old wine that has depth of flavor, his charisma is fire π₯, I fell in love with ZLY in PA, my girl got the strong female lead act down pat, she's got the mannerisms to make you believe she is THEE Big Boss around, I've followed her to Legend of Fei & MingLan and she's never disappointed me once, this role was made for her.
The humor is on another level, it's not slapstick or in your face, it's so subtly and artfully done you'll catch yourself laughing before you realize it
The OST, the CGI omg I love Cluck Cluck that was the most hillarious arc I've ever had in any cdrama, funny thing is the π actually looks abit like ZLY herself π , too cute.
All side characters were interesting but never taking too much screen time. There were no annoying or frustrating tropes, no overacting either.
I love everything, I mean EVERYTHING about this show, I never watched on 2x speed or dropped entirely, I was too interested in what was happening to miss a beat.
I wonder when next I'll get something like this again, for me some shows just click, and this was one of them.
Let me drool all over Wu Lei with you. Ashile Sun is still my favorite only because I favor costume dramas...but…
You got good taste sis, trust me I loved TLB but damn I was too invested in watching Ashile Sun's charisma plus he's just Chef's kiss in fight scenes. For me Ashile Sun > Ling Buyi > and now Lin Yiyang.
Also has anyone noticed how she looks at FX when they interact, she has a thing for him, she just tries to hide it when people tease her but she soooo does π€£
Also SSS2 might be in 10 years, who knows π©

Yh she was in WOH, WKX's attendant/adopted daughter
