This is a somewhat brainy series... don't start watching it if you want something that is predictable - Is a series that will keep you in suspense, and then when something is finally revealed it will give you that 'aha!" feeling.... it does keep going back to the past, then into the present which sometimes can confuse the viewers, and things do happen at a fast pace... if you miss something important then the rest won't make sense... so re-watch episodes that confuse you. It is worth the effort... my brain is tingling with excitement!
I've still have yet to watch Mr. Sunshine, but I have heard great things! Are the other 4 dramas you mentioned…
Mr. Sunshine - fantastic drama! - Grand Prince (Korean)(I couldn't stand the ML though, this was serious second ML syndrome for me - although he was the bad guy!), General & I, and the two legends are Chinese, (subtitles are tricky on the two legends... but I didn't mind, it was that good! LOL)
"And, unfortunately, the band-aid solution couldn't fix the gaping wound in the narrative, which left some of us (I'm sure I'm not alone) dissatisfied (especially in regard to how they dealt with Wang Sik). Just for this reason, I had to deduct a point." -- I feel the same.
Strong FL that I love: The Last Empress, Mr. Sunshine (both FL and support FL are strong!), Grand Prince, General & I, Legend of Mi Yue, Legend of Zhen Huan (last two had same actress play the FL - based on true story, the strength of the FL is remarkable!)
>Office Romance vs Boss/Employee RelationshipIndeed, this was something that surprised me as well because, in…
I didn't 'love' any of the three... SKL, YAMP or RP... recommend it? not if you are looking into some drama with substance... however all three have the ML take refuge on the FL's house - and she is the 'boss' in all three -
W - I recommend it!!! New concept, however it is hard for some people to follow what is going on, which may turn viewers off..... I recommend watching it 100%
Did you enjoy the article? Yes, very much! Did you also read the previous article? If so, have you tagged any dramas? - Haven't read the previous article. Was there a subject covered in this article which interested you? If so, which one? - the main subject of 'tags' is what interested me the most.. was not aware of some details regarding tags, and why some are tagged a certain way. Do you agree or disagree with our interpretations? Yes, it all makes sense now! Which data did you find most surprising? The boss/employee vs office romance tag. Have you watched a lot of office romances? What do you like the most about them? I have, I like employee/boss relationships be in office or any other settings. Have you seen dramas where the female lead is the male lead's boss? If so, which ones? (I tend to prefer the ones where the ML is the boss, however I can recall some where the FL was the 'boss') Shopping King Louis, You are My Pet, Rooftop Prince.. etc. Have you ever notice the power balance portrayed in the relationship between the leads? Yes, however your analysis of it made it even more clear to understand. Can you think of dramas where the writer has given the female character more power/control than the male character? If so, which ones? I would have to re-watch them to make sure my view of it is correct. Can you think of more dramas -- besides the ones mentioned in the article -- where the writer gave the male lead a significant amount of power over the female lead? W What do you think of cohabitation in dramas? Do you agree that most times the male has more (if not all) the power when it comes to this scenario? yes. Have you ever seen a drama where the male is in a crisis and seeks refuge in the female lead's house? same I mentioned above... Shopping King Luois, You are My Pet, Rooftop Prince.
Very good analysis.. I learned a lot from it.. I had taken it for granted that the tag, was just a tag... however your in depth analysis and examples opened a whole new world for me relating to tags!
I can't find words to thank you for posting this here - I had never watched a Turkish drama, some of these remakes I couldn't finish watching in their original version because something was off on the story or the actors..... I am absolutely in love with the remake of "Can Love Become Money" (Kiralık Aşk) and the remake of Boys over Flowers (Günesi Beklerken) - I think I have become addicted!
I watched "Autumn in my heart" or "Autumn Tale".. it has many names - story of two siblings....... had me crying from the first episode to the last episode -- it was my first drama of this kind. Not ready to watch another one like this for a while, I am still mending and recovering from that other drama.
Han Gi was a very emotionally damaged guy, he was obsessed with Sun Hwa - it was triggered by vengeance for her humiliating him, however as she reminded him of his former true love he rapidly turn his vengeance into obsessive love for her. -- In the end she accepted her fate and realized that the dreams she had in the past were never going to come true, and that her fate now was to continue on this field. She also understood that the Hang Gi had true feelings for her which at this point was the best she could hope for. Within the whole mess of things that she experienced she found a way to survive and love at the same time. --- This movie is a total mess, however I absolutely loved it..... even turned me into an emotional mess in the end finding beauty amongst all the disgusting events that happened..
I am just on episode 6 and it is painful to watch the female main lead... the rest of the cast are all fine, however her acting is truly making my eyes bleed..... I wanted to continue watching waiting for the reincarnation story, however based on your review I am going to bypass this drama..... thanks!
W - I recommend it!!! New concept, however it is hard for some people to follow what is going on, which may turn viewers off..... I recommend watching it 100%
