I would like you to point out one. I have yet to see a BL where couples actually discuss their issues head on, compromise and work it out instead of miscommunication artificially creating drama for drama's sake. I'm sort of glad there won't be a season two because after avoiding most BLs tired clichés the novels start to dive right on in all of them (evil woman rival and evil parent blackmail the couple apart, they don't communicate and, because of that, they are apart in a fragged storyline). I felt Love By Chance was very refreshing and true to what a relationship actually feels like in life, both for AePete and TinCan, because some work out and some don't and the reasons portrayed in the show why one did and one didn't were very plausible.
I am so scared of watching this but I like BL, those reviews....
If you watch for the cute moments, you'll be happy. If you expect it to make sense, you won't. Mork and Tee are adorable and you'll love them. And there is a happy ending. But if it bothers you if you don't know what is happening and why, it might be frustrating.
I just started watching, but no. I mean, few series are as fast-paced as Love By Chance, but everyone was saying My Dream was too slow and I thought it was engaging. I'm really liking it.
OK. So I started watching this show and this is what I think so far, Spoiler Free, if you are considering watching it.
=> It has a very unique and intriguing premise. => The flashback and set up instantly touched me from the first scene. => I like the production design. This show looks great! => The actor who plays Dream is absolutely beautiful and has the most radiant smile. => I love the soundtrack. => Runway (the lead character) is adorable and it's hard not to root for him. => Costume Design is great as well and I love the school uniforms. You'll see. => OMG! THE TEACHER! => Everyone was saying this was very slow and yet the first episode had a twist that I did not see coming that soon. => I didn't expect the show to be this funny. => The supernatural elements are really interesting and the romantic scenes are super cute!
Yes, THANK YOU. What I don't get is that on one end, we have Tar who is traumatized because he was raped while…
I think they wanted to honour all novels in the LBC universe, but sometimes in adaptation is best to leave a few things out. These two storylines didn't have room to be developed well here and did not connect with the main plot. Plus, as you point out, you have a person suffering from rape PTSD and scarred for life in the same episode they are making jokes about it. I love this series, but these is very fair criticism.
I started My Dream and I am enjoying it. I also plan to watch Our Skyy. Love By Chance left a hole in my heart, but 2019 has good BLs ion store, from what I have seen from trailers. He's Coming To Me in the last day of February; Theory Of Love in May; and Dark Blue Kiss in October.
...it's still a complete dumpster fire. Just so... utterly tone-deaf in so many ways. It boggles my mind that…
It seems you just don't seem able to defend your arguments without making it personal and offensive. I have made several posts on how I did not like the rape storyline at all, for instance, so you accusations hold no merit. It was very upsetting. I just don't think at any point it was sold as a happy ending. Have a nice life.

"But the show is clearly presenting it as a so-called 'happy ending'". No, it didn't. Techno's expression was not one of enjoyment. He was very uncomfortable.
All relationships had realistic endings, and I explained why.
I get that you didn't like the ending. It is frustrating to ship a couple and see them end apart. I get that. It's a valid opinion.
The doesn't make the writing sloppy, though. It was consistent with the plot presented. The characters were clearly out of sync. It's possible to express your opinion without calling the writers names. And if you think the writing is sloppy, present your case. I just feel the arguments you gave weren't really that strong and easily debunked.

I have no idea what you are talking about and completely disagree. I don't think getting raped was a happy ending for Techno. He surely didn't seem to feel comfortable at all. He was cold sweating and confused. AePete built their relationship with disagreements and talks and it was fit where they ended up. They didn't even have a big sweeping scene. Tum/Tar also didn't have a fairytale ending, as in they did not become romantic, but found something that worked.
I can see how TinCan fans can be upset. Most BLs and romantic dramas deliver happy endings no matter what and it's fair to say their ending did not match the usual expectation. But to call it sloppy or badly written? Dishonest. To what we saw onscreen, was a fitting end, as the characters were not on the same page at all.

To me it made perfect sense. Can mostly wanted friendship and only kissed Tin in exchange for food and gifts. hE's clearly immature and only finding himself. Tin was the one carrying the relationship entirely on his shoulders. And if you love someone, you can't just be friends! Not until you have time to get over them. It's just cruel to ask someone trying to get over you to be around you.
I thought a happy ending at that point would have been unearned. They had not built the foundation for that. Remember that Ae and Pete, who were smitten with each other instantly, still took seven episodes to actually become boyfriends.
It's not totally realistic as three couples (all friends) being involved in cheating is ridiculous, it is not…
Agreed. That is why I now don't necessarily want a season two for my favourite BLs or why I really appreciate that Love By Chance managed to have the main couple get together early and stay together the whole season while having milestones and disagreements. It's underrated how well they managed that.
I feel that this could be done better than The Last Chapter is doing... But it is a complicated task, as you put it. As a fan, I'll stop demanding for new seasons of shows I enjoyed. The only one I'm looking forward to is Dark Blue Kiss, knowing that they'll break up PeteKao and then bring them back together in the end, but, somehow, with that series, I think they found a way to make it work because they have a second main couple and the conflict they set up for PeteKao is very in line with threads they left hanging before. Plus, they had a whole series (Kiss) that revealed them as a stable couple of years, so the happy ending they had is not betrayed and we were able to witness it.

Before the whole family drama started, Knock was already being a jerk to Korn. If they had not introduced the family plot at all - which is problematic since it's pretty much the same arc about coming out publicly that they already had in Bad Romance and are repeating here within a family context, and created lots of plot holes making them only-children when TWM had established that Korn had a sister and Knock was Bright's brother, which they completely retconned - they could have created a season about long-term relationships going stale and cheating and that could be an interesting plot. My problem here is that we have two arcs that do not mesh well and that is on bad writing. To have a plot about outsides forces (families) tearing them apart, you'd have to establish them as close-knit in the beginning of the season. To have a plot about a internal conflict in the relationship (growing apart, taking each other for granted, cheating), they should have focused on the two and not have outside plots. Right now we are left with a couple that we don't care to root for, because they were shown to have run out of the course of their relationship AND being together causes incredible hardship with their outside world. Compare that with Together With Me, where the outside world was pulling them apart, but they had many scenes where they established a connection on screen that made us root for them to overcome the many obstacles.
I'll give the writer's a reprieve if by the end of this show Korn and Knock realise they are a terrible fit, break up and end up never talking to each other again. Then their story will have made sense and it will have been a good story to tell. It will not make up for the fact that the show is both dull and overwrought, but at least it will show me they had a point in showing bad people treating each other horribly.

I treat people as they treat others.
A concept can be poorly executed or brilliantly executed. Concepts are not good or bad. Execution is. You don't read what people write, offer no counter-argument and just condescendly offer over and over again that people are missing the point. I don't think that is the case at all, but if most people were missing the point, for argument's sake, then the show is poorly written and can't convey it's point clearly.
Major plot-holes, inconsistent characterisation, jarring shift in tone from scene to scene, dull, unnecessary scenes that don't advance the plot or characters and are there just for padding, contrived coincidences to heighten melodrama artificially or characters acting out of character just to fit the plot are clear signs that the writing is not very good and valid complaints.
Again, the argument that you all make is that people wanted a happy, rom-com season. Yet, people liked the first season of Together With Me and that season was extremely dramatic and the characters had obstacle after obstacle and a lot of drama. It even had cheating! And still, people liked that a lot better because the characters were much better written and consistent, compelling and the plot was tighter and better structured.
You all act like complaints about how poorly written this current series is started with the cheating, that took place in episode seven, but people have been dissatisfied all season with the low quality of the scripts and direction.
The problem is not with the watchers. It's not that you are special and understand what we don't. People have different tastes and it's OK for you to love this season and relate to it. It's OK for you to defend it. What it's not Ok is for you to tell that people who have justified and fundamented in detail what they are having problems with are missing the point when you can't specifically counter-argue the points they are making and just make blanket statements from a high horse.
