In the novel we don't know what happens to orignal empress soul. The new one Zhan Peng Peng stays in the past and has pretty happy matriage with emperor, lots of kids on the way as they enjoyed staying together and QiSheng get rid of all other concubines. Though he was a dominant duche sometimes.

I agree. We saw fantastic development of a character through 19 eps and cut.
As I'm curious how BongHwan really feels, how much he changed, I wanted to know better SoYong. I don't know this lady who took all at the end. I understand, she gained some traits from BH and they had similarities - but we had no chance to see her in action, to know her.
Ruined love story.
But my main pain is that I felt like they killed off main female lead -SoBong. I fell in love in SoBong, not just BH quirks or SY looks and charms. SoBong - a merged persona who was actually developed though this whole journey and is different from BH and SY.
This is the person that CJ fell in love with - the perfect combination of smart, sassy, frank, beautiful, charming and kind.
For me - she died that moment BH was taken from SY body.
I'm still so angry about it, though I knew there's no way they could finish drama like the novel, sadly - this would be the greatest drama till todayl.

I think the writers knew how it should end and what direction they drove (SoBong - BongHwan staying in Joseon and have a lifetime there) but it would not go through for korean viewers. Sorry - this is my pov and my band aid for the ending. I cannot imagine BongHwan being not devastated over all those feelings he developed on the way, all relationships. It was real as it has changed history. And all this narrative changes only in 19th episode and continues in 20th. Gives us bits of goodbye and cuts the story with sword.
I really cannot believe in CJ easy happiness with SY - who is clearly different from SB. Praise to Shin Hye Sun for making it so clear even though she wore the same costume and makeup. They both King and Queen have completely different dynamics depending if on SY or SB. If you got to know the characters in the drama - you can see the difference without blinking.
So he should notice it's not his first wife and we know he is good with observation and memory. It's so annoying and disappointing. But at the same time, we could have expect - the production won't give us a complete break through ending. Drama itself still breaks some cliches. I adore how they created SoBong - who is cutting through all that damsel in distress, poor stupid or envious queen tropes or weak FL. And I will stick with that.
I'd give 11/10 to 1-18 episodes and 8-9 points to last two with some good scenes.

the problem is that at this point the writer can afford a luxury to go to this extend and expose SL and hide ML for the sake of the story line.
This would have had different impact like 4 eps ago. Now, all is in full motion and it does not interrupt the story. It will be judged differently after the finale. People are crazy hooked anyway.

I'm looking forward to the wrap, then I will complain or not. I agree with those who think this ep was a preparation for the finale.

I was actually surprised how much they smooth her - in real life it would take loooonger and with psycho episodes. She really has a disorder - it's not easy to fix things with few clicks or wishful thinking. His love is really healing her, but he was a care taker - he knows the ups and downs. If you want something shiny, perfect go and watch flat disney princesses xD

that's why drama is not flat bcs wow there is actual character development :D

I believe in happy ending and that maybe Grand Queen Dowager dies or they will do a fake royal death to let uri no touch couple have some normal life like in cdrama and novel.

So far we saw 2 death scenes:
- So Yong - where it's not fully clear if she merged or shared memories and died
- O-Wohl - again we are not sure now if she was stabbed to death and Daebi used another no name corpse
- some Kim clan guy committed suicide

Also until now nobody died and there were plenty of occasions. Not the army guys, the kid, the mother.

All production said it's a lightweight to cheer us up - I cannot believe they will fiddle with the ending to damage the whole magic in this drama ;]

So stay positive aunties and uncles - we have a bumpy ride to have a satisfying finish.
And as much as I cannot wait to see it, I wish it would never end.

I doubt she got surgeries, she really looks good and lost weight. But her nose expands normally when she laughs or uses strong emotions, same for eyes. She closes jaw but not fully which will give you impression that chin is sanding out.
