Reading the comments it feels like some of the people watching this are either teenagers or have never had any family or responsibilities. Even if this season's writer struggles with character consistency, you can watch the sequel. If you don't want to do so and see the whole story, stop judging based on only half of it, specially the half which wasn't all written by the original writer.

XRF didn't want to be emperor, had no plan for it and most likely didn't spend his entire life training to become one. His real place was in the martial arts world and some might say he was too kindhearted to be a king. XRJ, however, had all of that. In fact, becoming king was his life goal. He wasn't brave but was good to XRF, had mutual understanding with him, wasn't crazy and was also smart enough not to be swayed easily. Their apparent other option, was a psycho who cared neither for people nor family, possibly worse than XY.
Who do you think XRF was gonna support?
In the end, XRJ was said to be a good emperor and the only one he truly wronged was his brother. Which caused him heartache for so long it caused his heart illness.

People here sounding like those who tried to force a rebellion onto Langya and his son.

An adaptation doesn't need to be the eact same as the original. To expect such a thing is unrealistic. Books have a lot of freedom.

I agree with this. Except I don't see how XL was after revenge. The Chenrong army had already chosen their path even before he joined, and would've gone to battle, with or without him. He simply didn't want to abandon them.

I think you missed my point. For example, in Genshin (and this is kind of a spoiler), there's a fully grownup human looking dragon, 500+ years old. Yet the fandom endearingly calls him baby dragon. Why? Because 500 is nothing compared to a dragon's lifespan in that universe. I think OP meant it like that.

I get your point. It's a matter of pros vs cons. But to me, a partner/friend/parent whose lack of action would put me in harm's way is not a lot better than one who'd harm me personally. And if I'm the one getting the job done, I shouldn't be hearing promises or things like "give me time" and "I'll handle it".

Just as too much of everything can be dangerous, too kind is also dangerous. Besides, he's indecisive and weak. He also didn't put her above everything else. He put his family, his clan, another girl's reputation and a whole lot more above her, otherwise they'd have ended up together much earlier.

Many characters in this story had something they loved, yet failed to protect. Xiangliu had three, and managed to protect all three. That's not pathetic, but admirable.

Don't expect any romantic scenes. This writer usually focuses on the thriller aspect and complicated mysteries

8 isn't the best rating in this website and the fact that in her defense, ratings is the first thing coming to mind instead of something you simply enjoyed in her stories, says a lot.
