This was a breezy watch. But ya need to suspend disbelief like, a LOT. Like the cp took the noble idiot trope a tad too literally.ππ
Guess it's slightly better than "Twilight"? At least these don't sparkle.ππ€£π It look like a bl squeezed in there a bit as well.. Fl could pass off for the fl from "Love Scenery" - they both look like twins.
For a debut, the ml is not bad for a rookie . His smirk is quite charming.π
Er--honestly, am not a fan of the leads. Judging from trailer alone, it looks like Go Go Squid only shooting LoL. And fl is paired with a guy who towers over her again LoL.
After 40 ep. it turned out to be much ado about nothing at all.ππ€£ What's with that ridiculous ott musical-Bollywood dance number in the remaining 15 min(?) of finale!?π€·π»ββοΈπ
As usual the baddies get off scot free. The good supposedly learn some meaningful life lessons while sending out Kumbaya vibes.ππ
I am slightly creeped out by Blu's obsession with Xiao Yu. And Victor's tragic straw hair! Well all in all it was a nice drama sort of watchable just skip the last 10-15min of finale. Would appeal to those who're fans of MasterChef. Despite title, there's no burning hot romance to see here. A hottie Ethan - oh yeah.π₯°
Yo it's Ethan Juanπ like what's not to like (this drama)? I'm in this just for. him. that's all.ππ₯°
I notice this trend of fls (mostly in asian dramas) acting not their age it's off-putting to say the least.π Maybe it's the age so I've a zero tolerance for it.ππ€·π»ββοΈ
Ethan ages like fine wine babyyy~ he is definitely more masculine and charismatic than most mainland Chinese actors who're way too skinny imo.π The food is a visual feast for the eyes and stomach.πππ
Push is so handsome here it's distracting.π Love the height difference with Aom. This sadly lack a lot of the charm that made the C-Drama "Boss & Me" so endearing for me. It's like the K-Drama remake of "A Love So Beautiful" - same thing.π
Also I'm only 6 ep. so far & I'm kinda bored already.ππ€·π»ββοΈ It's pretty easy to follow despite no subs.. yet.
Idk but isnβt karat technically also cheating from her husband? she keep meeting Ai lol. Itβs just so wrong…
Not technically no. She tried hard to put distance between them but Ai just kept pushing forward LoL. It helps also he is very sweet toward her son.
It's not like Chakrit is a saint either. He's worse LoL. He lied behind Karat's back AND slept with Nita for goodness sakes.π Yet he has the audacity to blame Karat for "using" their son to assume responsibility are you f***ing kidding me!?π€¬π€
I was skeptical on another May-December pairing but both Anne/James have a very natural & believable chemistry.
Nita & Venice have way too much time on their hands.ππ Chakrit is one sorry excuse of a human being.π€¬π€
I kind of like Anne's chemistry with Mark too.π€ͺπ€£ Though James is my fave still of course.π€£ Anne is sweet with the kid who plays her son, Putter as well..
Aside from the word "Beauty" in the title, this drama is much darker literally it's so somber looking compared to "True Beauty" that's bright & colorful.
It's really creepy LoL like I think it could be Jin Sung.. but it could be anyone??
Who's this "lambsky" person as well? The way Ae Jin spoke to her mom thoughπ€π€π Ae Jin's a antagonist female lead imo. She's hard to like but also I feel for her at the same time Idk it's confusing.ππ
Have watched until ep. 29 & it's so messy.π π It also feel repetitive with the way they try to pit everyone against Jian Ai. And somehow magically 2 of the 3 snakes on her tail have repented.π They have now sort of become Jian Ai's ally.
I'd never get second female leads who lie dormant and then boom all a sudden they want the male lead.π
Male lead started out charming but is reduced to bein' a Mama's boy and a walking red flag. It's a lot like "Young & Beautiful 2.0" only the female lead (Jian Ai) actually has a spine. She corrects her mistakes on the spot. She doesn't stay quiet or docile like in YAB. Li Yi Ming is a clown but geez have some dignity Jian Ai already rejected him multiple times & yet he pines for her. Oh boy.ππ€¦π»ββοΈ
Can't believe there's 11 more ep. of this ha-ha. Am still watching because of cast. The chemistry between Liu Tao/ Raymond is decent.
Havenβt read jane eyre, but have read wise sargasso sea and know rough plot or eyre, and tho technically not…
Haven't read "Wide Sargasso Sea". Thank goodness for internet though.π Manage to glance through synopsis; story is tragic.π It's sad what happened to her.. Rochester is painted as a man who tries to do good to his wife (at least by Bronte) Jane left for that reason she won't become his second wife but his one and only . I didn't read Bronte but watched the drama adaptation which is just as good.π
Gettin' distinct "Cruel Romance" & "Siege in Fog" vibes off of this. Ml is dashing & oh my lord so beautiful... ππ
It's sorta like Thai lakorn with ml not knowing his boundaries & acting controlling, possessive etc. I wished they styled the sml's hair differently? Other than that, it's watchable. π
Thanks for the infoβIβve been trying to piece the pieces together and this is really helpful! One question,…
Oh boyπ if I remember correctly, back in 90s M'sia the Malay Muslims here were more liberal & not seen wearing hijabs or head coverings as much as they do now. Although they do have choice not to.
Ah no wonderπ€£ this drama is set in 90sπ€ͺ That explains the huge desktop computer monitors! Or the pagers!π€¦π»ββοΈπ
Really? Guess not same as in Indonesia in the 90s? We hired locals for drivers, gardener and maids. We had stop…
The Malay Muslims in Malaysia rarely do housekeeping. I mean there are but rarely. If they did, they work only for Malay Muslims. As the religion has very strict rules. I remember ever seeing foreign workers in non Malay Muslim family households. Also locals find housekeeping as a low paying job and sort of demoralizing.
Another thing in this drama, they show all Malaysians speak Mandarin/Chinese and that's not entirely true either. Malays can speak the language if they attended Chinese schools. As for the Chinese, most (the wealthy only) can't as they study abroad or attend Malay schools so they speak English, Malay more.
Boy the production team weren't even subtle at hinting that "Country M" was indeed Malaysia.π They didn't represent Malaysia well either. Muslims here don't do housekeeping for non Muslims. We usually hire foreign domestic helpers for that.
We're a moderate multi racial country with diverse cultures. In this drama they showed all women in hijabs.π I'm surprised they didn't style them in burqas.π That's about the only gripe I have.
6 ep. have been subbed so far but something about the look feels Idk - dated LoL? Like it reminds me one of those classic TVB dramas of the past. It's still watchable though.ππ
The plot look somewhat similar to "Young and Beautiful". Both fls sport pigtails and check shirts or somethin' similar. Difference is the fl here is a better actress than the one from YAB.
I am enjoying this so far. Fl is tough, smart, resourceful and not at all a pushover or doormat. Raymond Lam is a seasoned TVB HK drama actor.
Btw I hate her aunt and male cousin!! I bet those two will create much havoc for the fl much later.
Judging from title alone one can tell this is goin' to be a melodrama.π€ͺππ I do agree with other comments here that the casting for the mom/son characters are too close in age. He looks more like her husband in some scenes.π¬
I'm gettin' "The Joy Luck Club" vibes from this also. Watched 2 ep. only so far, it is ok. Just need a lot of patience.βΊοΈ
