This was filmed 5 years ago? Wow! but this story is really good, in my opinion. I was never bored in any single episode, it's so gripping. They could have made Season 1 and 2 so that they don't have to cut the 12 episodes. Such a shame.

I am at episode 24 now and suddenly there's romance between the main leads? Did I miss something? I felt it weird that the ML suddenly touches the FL hand, and she confess his feelings and he hugs her from behind. Please tell me which episode they started liking each other and I will go and rewatch. Thanks

12 episodes were cut? why? this is an excellent drama and those cut episodes may have added more thrills

This movie is similar to the Korean movie called Pawn. Also a heartwarming movie.

I wish they added 2 more episodes to this lovely drama, because the final episode felt so rushed and full of questions. E.g. how did they overcome their great loss and start their business again? how did they manage to open their own shop? Where did they get the money to restart their business? I mean, they would have to find customers outside their small town, right? how was the long-distance relationship between the ML & FL? What really happened to the second couple, Ju Ri and her bf? What happened to Jeong Suk's ex-husband and her ex-best friend? There are so many unanswered questions. I was left frustrated and disappointed when the drama ended. LOL... Maybe there will be a Season 2? please?

I actually dropped this drama last year, because the first few episodes were boring for me. But then, last weekend, I didn't have anything better to watch and I started this drama again. Surprisingly, the drama gets better towards the later episodes and it found it rather interesting until the end. The plot twist in the end was quite surprising.

I agree with you. Miles Wei doesn't fit the historical genre. I have seen a few of his historical costume outfits and looks, and he doesn't seem to look good.... LOL. He better sticks to modern dramas or movies

I usually enjoy historical investigation dramas; I liked The Imperial Coroner & the FL here is not annoying at all. Mysterious Lotus Casebook, Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty S1 & S2, were all good. The FLs in these dramas were not annoying...hahaha. Anyway, these are my opinions.

Good article. They should add "Familiar Stranger" and "Hard Noble Lady" as one of the good mini drama series. The same actress plays the female lead.

I finally finished this C-drama, but I had to fast forward the scenes with the other supporting characters. The main leads story was great, but I felt sorry that the FL gets attacked every 2 episodes.... LOL. But in the end, all is good.

I have watched up to episode 10 and seriously I can’t stand the FL. I wish the director should have directed her to act better and less childish and arrogant. why do they have to portray Chinese actress like this? she’s supposed to be smart and talented in investigation but she’s acting childish and stupid. I miss FL from Are You The One. She’s a great FL. Ding Yuxi deserves a better FL.

What? Filmed in 2021 and only released now in 2024. What took so long? I wonder. I am just starting this drama because of Miles Wei, and I already dislike his dubbed voice. LOL...

Thank you for this article. I love all the rising male stars here, especially Zhang Wan Yi, Dai Gao Zheng, Wang Xing Yue, and Cheng Lei. Plus there are so many good historical costume dramas premiering this year, that I cannot keep up anymore. I don't have much time to watch them all since I still have to work for a living....LOL.

I started this drama, and I did notice that the FL is really thin. Perhaps she needed to keep up with China's celebrity beauty standard. But being so thin is so unhealthy. I hope in the future, this unrealistic beauty standard will change and the actors/actresses can be allowed to look slim and healthy.
